@Aladey @everestnames @TonyNames Tony is doing great in domains and share valuable lessons and experiences with community. But I think he never shared his portfolio size even when asked about it few times. I guess, we'll never know unless he wants to share it. Namebio did confirm they have 75k domains.

Tony’s model is different. I only have around 6,000 domains. At a 1% annual STR, that works out to roughly 5 sales per month. Tony has more than 80,000 domains, so with the same STR he’s looking at 65–70 sales per month. At that scale, outbound becomes far less necessary because the portfolio generates enough inbound sales on its own. The cost of doing outbound across 80,000 domains would likely exceed the cost of acquiring and researching more inventory, which is exactly the point he has made. One thing I’ve learned: in almost every business, quantity eventually beats quality as long as you maintain a reasonable level of quality.

The only reasons you should outbound is 1) If you are a Broker, that is your job 2) If you don't know how to buy good names and your names depend on selling. Let me explain no.2 Every hour you put in outbound can be put in buying effort. There are a million things you can do to buy getter baes Better names sell on their own and if you have a good ser of names you will sell faster than you can spend. Which is why none of the good domainers ever do outbound. And if you don't know how to good domains and always depend on outbound, it will give you a false sense of mild success and keep on doing it buying the same wrong names and never improving your buying skills Because if you know how to buy, the flywheel will start working at some point where it will start to payoff in magnitude more than your outbound effort. If it never does, you need to retrospect And lastly, if you have to depend on cold emailing calling to sell something, you'd be better off selling some other evergreen products/services. If you must outbound, set yourself a timeline, Domaining is the most passive business you will ever find and it is not that hard.

As a domain investor, I frequently get questions about outbound sales. I rarely do outbound. I tend to prefer passive, inbound sales for the following reasons:

I just watched a fantastic football match in Los Angeles with my family, Spain vs. Belgium, 2-1, it was absolutely thrilling. Watching a game with 80,000 other people is an unparalleled experience. Who do you think will be the ultimate champion of this World Cup?

Founders will spend $5k on a landing page and $0 thinking about whether anyone can remember the domain. That is backwards. The name carries every ad, every referral, every pitch.

💡 Today's Domaining Tip 💡 4/3 years ago, I made a decision that completely changed my portfolio. I invested heavily in AI + Keyword .com and Keyword + AI .com domains. Looking back, it's the best investment I've ever made. At one point, I owned more than 1,000 AI-related .com domains. The inspiration came from a friend who built his life-changing success by investing early in Cloud + Keyword .com domains. Watching his journey taught me the value of spotting major technology shifts before everyone else. When I started hearing about AI, I didn't chase the hype or invest in .ai domains. I stayed focused on what I believed in: strong .com brands built around AI. The lesson? When a true technological shift begins, ignore the noise. Focus on the long-term signal and have the conviction to act before the crowd.

It took me six years to reach $1M in domain sales. After in-depth study, research, and small experiments in 2019, I started with $100k in January 2020 with zero domains and gradually built a portfolio of over 5,000 active domains. Domain sales from January 2020 to today: Afternic : $747,370 Afternic LTOs: $35,000 Dan: $109,341 Sedo: $55,000 Spaceship: $17,493 ------------------- Total: $964,204 in domain sales. Wholesale: Sold over $114,000 in bulk domain deals (all private). Grand total: $1,078,204 in six years. I am very grateful to @afternic and all the buyers who purchased my domains. 🙏 Expenditures: Approximately 45%, including marketplace commissions, domain renewals, and acquisitions. Net profit: 55%, plus a portfolio of over 5,000 active domains that increases in value over time and serves as a cash flow machine for a small family man like me. Lessons: 1) In the first few years, I lost a few domain deals due to lack of negotiating skills. Their combined value was around $90k. 2) I stopped using DAN and Sedo long ago, as all my domain sales came from Afternic, and I found it time-consuming to list on all marketplaces. Currently, my domains are listed on Afternic and Spaceship only. 3) You all know I wanted to sell my portfolio. I tried my best and even listed it for 9 BTC, but it didn't sell. I received two strong offers but politely declined them, as they were not from domain investors—those individuals came from different backgrounds and had little understanding of domains. Mistakes A) I wasted about two years on crypto trading, which caused health issues and sleepless nights; domains are a much better and safer investment. I wish you all a happy, healthy, and beautiful life full of happiness and prosperity. ✌️😀 In July 2024, I wrote about my first four years' journey, including revenue details. 👇 x.com/DomainCX/statu…
