Wayland is not ready, x11 is not secure but is the only one finished - but now I’m afraid with the open sabotage of the big corps specially IBM/RH, xlibre is gaining traction. Wayland is ok for a regular user desktop, featureless for any dev. Xlibre is better but still cleaning the house (great). Official x11 is not trustworthy anymore. Like Systemd, it’s ok for the regular desktop as upstart (🤮) was. But for serious server/virtualization/microservices openrc is a way better. SysinitV only for compatibility, but slow for today tech.

We are investigating unauthorized access to GitHub’s internal repositories. While we currently have no evidence of impact to customer information stored outside of GitHub’s internal repositories (such as our customers’ enterprises, organizations, and repositories), we are closely monitoring our infrastructure for follow-on activity.

@Koto_Sumire @nathans_codes_2 Isn't XLibre just some guy's pet fork of Xorg where he just spends 99% of his effort renaming files and moving them around since the Xorg devs finally got fed up of his broken patches? Or am I thinking of a different fork?

With a bit of tweaking this means you can write Swift apps for the original Macintosh lol (if you don't care about the stdlib or runtime)

The Swift toolchain for Atari ST works but the "hello world" binary I got out of Swift is over 5x the size of the Zig or Rust equivalents 😆

@xmine64 Often you’ll have to give up a large part of the stdlib as well but you still get the language’s primitives and whatnot In Rust-land there’s actually a pluggable async runtime called Embassy that is designed for use on systems like this

After Rust, I now have a Zig toolchain to build software targeting the Atari ST - I think Swift is next - will clean up the Zig stuff and make a GitHub repo ASAP

I’m not worried about AI datacenters boiling the oceans while we’ve got folks out there just building LLVM whenever they feel like it
