The mysterious and sinister Israeli creation, 'Hasbara', is simply PR and bringing journalists on trips to Israel. Every country does it. They're usually just called junkets, freebies or a press trip. No conspiracy. No secret plot. But that doesn't sound as exotic or sinister.

I grew up Catholic in a toxic Loyalist environment. I knew the "headbangers" next door were UVF. I knew we never dared to say so. Who; had to recite their alphabet sayin haitch wrong at 10, cos that was a kicking, got threatened with getting thrown on the bonfire when dared to attend at 13. When I was assured at a party by 1 bloke that he'd look after you because "everyone wants to rape a fenian". When I climbed up the front of a block of flats to save my friend's baby, it was because i knew they'd set fire to the back door because of my father's religion, I thought at 15 that was my fault. When a stone came through my window, onto my pregnant belly, on the eleventh at 19 I was horrified it was my 17year old neighbour I'd grew up beside. These are realities and I never see them as horrific until I say them out loud in passing and see/hear the shock of others who do not know of what I speak. I am now in a position where the traditional left have left me. Especially in this North/N'Iron, the middle seems to have no clue, so have veered left for the virtue, and the only ones actually speaking clearly( even if I vehemently disagree all the time ) are unionist voices. This is a travesty and nationalists and those that claim to speak for all should be ashamed. STOP with the Whataboutery. STOP closing your ears to working class, minority and disabled voices. YOU are not listening by reading studies and surveys. PLEASE stop with the fabulous panel lunches and facilitated performances and really go and talk to your constituents about what they really think.
