Honestly, you know what? I HOPE we get our asses punished by Europe. I hope the petrodollar dies and the pertroyuan rises and our economy implodes. Hopefully who remains and what we can rebuild after will be the actual shining city on a hill that we should have been.
And this isn’t an “I love China” moment - I am no great fan of them, as they are basically killing the planet with overfishing and pollution. But maybe they will learn from our mistakes and do better because we’ve just flat out failed. I spent almost 20 years of my career doing humanitarian work for the US abroad, and honestly believed the “we are freedom and democracy manifest” line.
