Flatten the curve - help us stop the spread of #coronavirus by staying at home when possible, reduce contact with others outside of your household and wash your hands regularly. Indoors dancing is fine - just do it a few metres apart preferably with Personal Protection Equipment

Labelling an older patient with ‘acopia’ says more about the coping skills of the clinician than the patient 😏 First diagnose time critical conditions presenting atypically Next, consider things that are almost exclusively a problem in older people 👇 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/17…

Is it really flu? With the flu season in full swing, don't forget there are "other conditions available" to catch you out! This was compiled from the #MedTwitter hive mind in Jan 2018 - has anyone seen this year's strain mimicking anything else? PDF at lindadykes.org/downloads

People with frailty discharged from hospital experience ⬆️mortality &resource use-even after short ‘ambulatory’ admissions. This group is at ⬆️risk of poor outcomes. Systems should consider their post hospital discharge responses for those with Frailty bjgp.org/content/69/685…

At 80 we are 50% less strong than when we were 30 unless we do something about it. Regular strength training makes movement easier at any age and is an investment for our later years. #strengthsaveslives #trainhardfighteasy #healthyageing 💪💪

Sarcopenia... The most under appreciated condition in healthcare A silent killer that is ‘hidden in plain sight’ for the older adult demographic Happens when you do nothing to counteract it #StrengthSavesLives

💥Doctors💥 This GMC advice may be v relevant to you this winter: Juniors, no matter how worried you feel, *please* document & escalate your concerns. Seniors, please support & back your juniors in doing so. CEOs, please lead from the top on this. #BawaGarba #WinterCrisis
GMC@gmcuk

@DrAndrewGreen We know this is very difficult. Our advice is that where service pressures affect you and risk patient safety, it’s vital to escalate & document concerns, but don’t walk away. You should work with colleagues to provide the safest care you can with the resources available to you.

Many hospitals now use daily or more screening for new #delirium in inpatients. Some reports of a modified Single Question in Delirium (SQiD) being used, & if +ve, followed by tool eg. 4AT. Does anyone have experience of this? Original SQiD paper: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20837733
