@BrandonWarmke Interesting. I'll say that some conservative academics consistently fail to display any of the attractive virtues (loyalty, respect for tradition, an unwillingness to adopt a victim mentality, decorum, etc.) I associate with the conservative tradition.

I’ll just say that many conservative academics are way too precious, don’t understand power, lack the courage to say publicly anything truly socially costly, hide behind canonical figures and texts, have naïve views about the forces working against them, and are insufficiently grateful to those activists and journalists who fight politically on their behalf so they can keep out of the trenches and always claim the high moral ground.

@thearsfamily97 Really cool lineup, I think you could also have MLS as the inverter.

If you want Rice as the 6 and Eze+Odegaard as dual tens, this means the LB should invert for defensive security. 2 runners and 3 ball-to-feet out of the 5 attackers is a good balance. You can also start TrossardxGyokeres or MartinellixHavertz, but those two scenarios have only one runner + 4 ball-to-feet.

@waldenpod I mean, out of context it is a silly point but in the context of the actual show (Pluribus) it is an extremely good one!

@thearsfamily97 Trossard probably, I'm not sure about Nelli. I think it would be a shame to lose him because he's a good player (not elite, but good) who is experienced and willing to play a role. I'm not sure we can upgrade much on him short-term. There's other guys I'd rather sell

As for left winger. All my premium choices keep getting less and less attainable. Yildiz, new contract (though, I still have hope if Juve don't qualify for UCL). Kvara, not interested. Diomandé, massively overpriced. Bahoya seems gettable tbh. I'd take him even with his inconsistency mainly because he's cheap. I don't want us to wait until he has a breakthrough season then Frankfurt starts calling 100m. So, I've been left with my EPL choices. 1. Iliman Ndiaye is like a lesser version of Kvara. Great dribbler, not a speedster but still very fast, great ballstriking, and a hard worker OOP. He's my current top choice. He's just as close to an ideal Arteta winger as you'd find and the EPL version of Kvaratskhelia 2. Morgan Rogers is more of a Trossard replacement because he playes more in the half-space. The main selling point is that he's one of the few players in the EPL that would be an upgrade to Trossard's shooting. Rogers is the anti-xG man. He sfores extremely difficult chances, and longshots are great ways to counter lowblocks. He's also a great carrier in the middle. 3. Anthony Gordon. Trust me, I'm not a big fan either but Arteta wants him so I have to put him here. He's not a bad player tbh. The problem is he's just as bad as Martinelli vs lowblocks. Nevertheless, I'm gonna try and focus on the positives. He's slightly faster than Martinelli and he is better than Martinelli on a technique level. That's it. Both of them are pretty much identical in every other way. 80m for him is stupid, but 60m is reasonable. So, of the three, Ndiaye can be either a Martinelli or Trossard replacement. Rogers is a Trossard replacement. Gordon is a Martinelli replacement. To add my fave Bahoya... he's also a replacement for either Martinelli or Trossard.

If we're only getting one midfielder next season, he needs to be one that can do Zubimendi's job or Rice's job is needed. A "Total Footballer" or "Everything Man" I don't want someone who only progresses forward but isn't a duelling master or covers large spaces well. They need to be high-tier generalists that can do many things because that's what Arteta's system demands of midfielders. If they're EPL proven, even better. A-Tier Bruno Guimaräes Elliot Anderson Manuel Locatelli (I know he's not leaving Italy) B-tier Mateus Fernandes Chema Andrés There are obviously other generalists but I'm too lazy to start listing everyone. My favourite choice in Anderson. Less injury prone than Guimaräes despite Guimaräes being slightly better. Also waaaaay cheaper wages than Guimaräes.

@thearsfamily97 I'd take Yildiz or Kvara if available definitely but we already have a top wing prospect and I don't think it's wise to replace prime-age PL proven players with young guys. I'd rather see Eze play more wide minutes.

@thearsfamily97 Do we need a winger? With Eze, Martinelli, Saka, Madueke, Dowman we have enough there that only a real superstar would be an upgrade and no one like that seems possible. I would focus much more on midfield competition/backup for Zubi and Rice, a new RB, and a young striker.

@thearsfamily97 Was Martinelli that bad? He took a bunch of shots and could have done better with them but did well to get them. Also he did set up our biggest chance outside of the goal and worked pretty hard off the ball.

@meishato Even without a prosthetic leg l wouldnt give up my seat for anyone. Call me disrespectul but getting on a bus knowing very well its full and expecting sympathy is stupid. Why not just wait for the next bus or better still just stand all the way without bothering anyone.

my bestfriend has a prosthetic leg and one time on a packed bus an old man told her to give up her seat. she said no. he started going on about “youth these days have no respect” so she literally took OFF her prosthetic leg and handed it to him like “since you need it so bad” and suddenly he didn’t need the seat anymore 😭

@Cheersup2God @MatthewHartke To dissonance (doubling down and proselytizing). You absolutely do not need to accept the view that the authors describe the case correctly or that the phenomenon they describe is widespread to endorse some form of dissonance theory!

@Cheersup2God @MatthewHartke It’s worth noting that the core of CDT is just the idea that people feel discomfort when they recognize inconsistencies in their belief set (and maybe also values). When Prophecy Fails is a case study which the authors take to demonstrate an important sort of response…

Ok, here we go. This paper is mostly terrible. It’s poorly written, highly motivated, consistently misrepresents Festinger & co, & fails to demonstrate even a basic understanding of the theory it claims to “debunk”. This’ll be a long 🧵 I’ll add to it as I have the time/energy

Unbelievable, insane night in the West Bank. Hundreds of Israeli settlers are rampaging across more than 15 villages and towns right now, torching homes, cars, and fields, and attempting to burn people alive. The Israeli army is showing complete failure and total indifference.

Four Palestinian women were killed by an Iranian missile in Hebron. Two points must be emphasized: A) Iranian missiles are fired indiscriminately at civilians in both Palestine and the Gulf. B) Apartheid Israel provides shelters and protection exclusively for Jewish Israelis.

@InlandCaGuy @CartoonsHateHer I kind of agree that its a bit much to treat West like a victim, but it's worth noting that the dynamics surrounding her choice seem unhealthy and given that her story is sort of presented as empowering and a positive model of polyamory, it's worth pointing this out.

So here's the thing. Maybe all of us are completely wrong and she's misunderstood, but surely someone involved in the publishing of her book/interview told her this? I mean, for everyone to see it the same way, surely she has to understand why!
