I've spent the past 10 months trying to solve one of hip-hop's biggest mysteries: the 2004 murder of Mac Dre. Now, using more that 1,300 pages of never-before-seen documents and dozens of interviews, that mystery is solved. passionweiss.com/2021/05/11/who…

@ScamNetwon I get paid to write about music, and also, this took me two minutes to do. You don’t get paid to write or think about music and you read my stupid thread and responded. How much of a loser does that make you? Not trying to be rude. Just placing this in context. We both suck prob

I don’t know why we’re defending Drake as an underdog hero when he’s so transparently morally bankrupt, an artist who will do anything for a check (file lawsuits, push gambling apps to his fans, and stands for nothing other than the notion that he’s the greatest.

Kendrick took Bay Area dancers allll around the world, shot music videos worked with directors from Berkeley, gave some young Vallejo kids a big spot light on a album which was connected to one of the biggest marvel movies ever, but niggas wear Mac Dre shirts and that’s enough

@IBN_HD I guess it’s more unappreciated in general, a feeling that there’s a lack of respect for him in the hip-hop community, that no matter what he does he’ll always be on the outside looking in.

@DonnyMorrison26 unappreciated geniuses, that's more Ye. Where drake draws parallels to Ye is in ideas of affirmations and manifestations and of course of the underdog becoming champion. Drake is now in the stage where the villain has been defeated. This character we see now is Darth Vader.

@IBN_HD That’s an interesting idea. Would be cool to see a Darth Vader arc. I wonder where he goes from here. Especially if, God forbid, Kendrick responds or any other litany of rappers he’s surely offended. He doesn’t seem to mind though. Respect.

Who also picked a fight he got thoroughly beaten in. Where was this "empathy" for Meek, who the same man can casually reference in his so called "revenge" arc?! It's all so pathetic to me.

@DonnyMorrison26 So Jay Z and Nas cosigning casino development and every media outlet promoting gambling is also in the wrong right?

Maybe some people, but this sounds like a broad generalization. I like Drake songs that are good. Of which there are a ton. And I don’t care if I seem unintelligent, you should hear the shit I normally consume.
Stefan@stefangeo2000

The reason people posture as being anti-Drake is very simple: Drake is popular, and people think that liking popular things makes them “unintelligent”. The idea that someone can enjoy both Drake and Shakespeare does not compute for this crowd

@RenzYung I mean I’m not the morality police, but having said that, all the above sounds lame as fuck. If it crossed my desk perhaps I would comment. I’m just talking about Drake cuz he dropped all these albums. I’m the last person to dismiss an artist over morally opaque lifestyles.

@DonnyMorrison26 I’m not offended. I just didn’t get the attack on his morality. If you feel that way, you gotta call out 50 for always being in conflict. NAS for his casino deal, Hov for tryna get the casino license. Just saying

@RenzYung I’m not policing morality, I’m calling out the hypocrisy. It’s a big difference, Renzel, I didn’t mean to offend. I like the album a lot to be clear. I just don’t like how he gets himself into compleltey avoidable conflicts due to his big fucking ego. Just my two cents!

Drake fans are so awesome. Seem like super cool reasonable people. Also, I write about music, why would he have to fuck my mom for me to comment on a subject I cover? Consequence of Drake embracing the manosphere.

Drake speaks for all the wannabes who grew up perceiving themselves as unappreciated geniuses. They feel vindicated by his self-mythologizing. The belief that you can do and say whatever you want, and as long as people are watching , you’ve already won.

@Pellz_ Yeah, I completely relate. Except most of the bad faith arguments I see are directed towards Kendrick. It drives me crazy and I wish I wasn’t this way lol I’m trying to right what i believe to be a cosmic wrong lol one pathetic tweet at a time.

@DonnyMorrison26 For me, it's just about making good arguments about Drake lol. Like I don't even *want* to defend Drake. But it's just i think people project onto him so much and I see what feels like bad arguments, and i just don't like seeing bad arguments lol. it's like an itch

@jrosethereturn I actually love the Ice Man. I never said it want for me. His best since Scorpian. And “ensuring equality in criticism” has never been my lense through which I listen to anything. wtf are you even talking about Bob. I write about music. This is going about my day.

@jrosethereturn I get hot about this because of the way people treat Drake with kid gloves but go bare knuckle anytime Kendrick opens his mouth. Both are worthy of criticism, just calling it how I see it!
