Israel can fund Iron Dome, but Iron Dome is defensive and protects Israeli civilians from rocket attacks by its enemies. You can prioritize other areas where cutting off funding would add real value (like funding that supports the settlements in the WB or bunker buster bombs).

The Israeli government is well able to fund the Iron Dome system, which has proven critical to keep innocent civilians safe from rocket attacks and bombardment. Consistent with my voting record to date, I will not support Congress sending more taxpayer dollars and military aid to a government that consistently ignores international law and U.S. law. Netanyahu’s allies in the Knesset just approved a $45 billion defense budget, and the Prime Minister himself also asserted his interest in withdrawing from the MOU with the United States in January. It is fully within their ability to fund Iron Dome and other defensive systems. Our allies who need our military aid must understand that we will provide it consistent with the Leahy amendment and the foreign assistance act.

When Bibi leaves office, most western nations will have recognized a Palestinian state & it will be b/c he's a cantankerous a**hole who has no boundaries or sense of restraint. The next US POTUS might also recognize a Palestinian state in order to check the Israeli right.

Without Iron Dome, the tens of thousands of rockets that Hamas fired from Gaza into Israeli cities after October 7 could have killed hundreds, even thousands of Israelis.
Many others could have been hurt by the missiles fired by the Houthis in Yemen ... but critics of Israel simply don't care about that.

I think centrists need to recognize that for folks younger than Boomers/Older Gen X, they see the rest of the world has caught up to and surpassed the US on quality of life and they want more tangible public goods for the taxes they pay.

- Age
- the view that they want to 'work within the system' when the reality is the GOP has broken it & more political confrontation is required
- a desire for rapid modernization & future focused thinking to catch up w/the rest of the world.

The rest of us shouldn't get whipped up over an imaginary "genocide" that never happened. The left redefined genocide to make the Israel-Hamas war fit. By the left's definition, any devastating war will be considered "genocide" so long as the perpetrators are Western states.

Israel's incursion into Lebanon made sense from the perspective of protecting its border towns from Hezbollah assaults as the Gov't of Lebanon has failed to secure its southern border. But taking shots at journalists & ransacking towns is the sign of a country drunk on power.

Israel has been doing this sort of thing for years. It's disingenuous. Israel's conduct needs to be brought within the rule of law. It has operated freely outside of it where it has a force advantage.
