@FalhadaIman The future of East Africa's food systems must be safe, sustainable and just. Let's push for policies and laws that protect people, not profits. Today we bring a regional legislator to be part of the discussion.

Several Highly Hazardous Pesticides banned in the European Union are still being manufactured and exported to @jumuiya . These chemicals are poisoning our souls and threatening the health of our people, its time to close these policy gaps.

𝐃𝐨 𝐔𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐄𝐚𝐭? Today, @FRAUGANDA joined @SEATINIUGANDA and partners under the UNCC-FOPWL coalition at Protea Hotel Kampala for the National Dialogue on Governance of Uganda’s Food and Nutrition Regulatory Landscape. The dialogue brought together CSOs, policymakers, and development partners to confront a critical question: 𝐃𝐨 𝐔𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐄𝐚𝐭? 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲: • Status of the Food & Nutrition Policy review and the proposed Food & Agriculture Regulatory Authority • Gaps in Uganda’s food regulatory and enforcement systems • Rising burden of diet-related NCDs and unsafe food environments • Proliferation of ultra-processed foods high in sugar, salt, and fat • Low consumer awareness on healthy diets and food safety • Weak investment in preventive nutrition vs curative care • Policy, legal, and fiscal bottlenecks slowing progress @FianUganda @CefrohtUg @ConsentUganda #KnowWhatYouEat #FoodGovernance #NutritionUG #FOPWL #Uganda
