Cool video of New Glenn’s fairing re-entry. For this flight we installed an exo-atmospheric reaction control system (RCS) in the fairing to control re-entry and enable recovery of the fairing. We’re planning a parachute recovery later this year, and the data from these fairings gives us the learnings needed to develop and refine that capability.

SNAPPY, built on our 3U CubeSat bus, will carry and test a @WichitaState University-designed prototype neutrino detector, which will: Prove the detector can operate in space and measure background rates relevant to solar neutrino detection via a double-pulsed signature that cleanly identifies true solar neutrino interactions. The mission will gather critical data to support future solar neutrino research closer to the sun. Neutrinos are among the most elusive particles in the universe. About 100 trillion neutrinos pass through your body every second, or even more when you’re standing next to a potassium-filled banana aisle. Because of their elusivity, there’s still a lot we don’t know about them. Understanding neutrinos holds the key to understanding the structure of the universe and the origin of mass. SNAPPY is a @NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC)-funded 3U CubeSat, led by WSU professor Dr. Nickolas Solomey, and developed in collaboration between @NASAJPL, @NASA_Marshall, and the universities of Wichita, @usd, @UMNews, and @UMich.
