If this was true it would require 6500 wind turbines being built. Hinckley point is a 3.2GW nuclear plant. The average size of wind turbines is 12-15 MW. When the wind doesn't blow you get zero while the nuclear keeps going. I'd prefer nuclear it can give us stable base load which can be ramped up and down as needed.

@KateFantom @NM_Rdg So we have two supply sources then. One massively taxpayer subsidised and intermittent. The other 24 hr reliable yet only used when the massively subsidised intermittent source is unavailable, which is most of the time. Jesus wept.

Whatever you read on the internet, please remember the facts. So far this year renewables have supplied over 42% of our grid energy. That’s more than any other energy source.

Just two years after telling rich Republicans to jump on a bus and head to Florida, NY Gov Kathy Hochul begs rich taxpayers who are in Florida to come back to New York so they can pay more taxes. Hochul says she needs "high net worth" people to cut her checks to fund New York's social programs. "I need people who are high net worth to support the generous social programs that we wanna have in our state right now." "...Cut me the checks... The first step should be to go down to Palm Beach and see who you can bring back home, because our tax base has been eroded."

Stay in your fucking lane. We are the LGB...nothing more, nothing less. A cold, hard line drawn in immutable biology: same-sex attraction. Lesbians who want women. Gay men who want men. Bisexuals who navigate both without rewriting reality to accommodate ideology. The rest? They can take their expansionist agenda and get the hell out of our spaces. We built this on shared, material truth...not on subjective internal sense of self, not on compelled speech, not on the endless demand that everyone else erase their own boundaries to affirm someone else's beliefs. Decades of real blood, real arrests, real AIDS graves, real bar raids, real suicides from being told our orientation was a sin...all that sacrifice, only for gender ideology activists to colonize the acronym, turn "homosexual" into a slur in our own house, and brand lesbians bigots for refusing male anatomy no matter how it's hormonally or surgically repackaged. This isn't alliance. This is appropriation. It's textbook exploitation: hijack the empathy and moral framework of a historically oppressed group, then shame and guilt them into submission when they refuse to serve as validation props for an ideological agenda. The gaslighting is relentless...frame refusal as violence, frame boundaries as hate, frame basic sexual dimorphism as erasure. No. We owe you nothing. Our orientation is not a social construct to be deconstructed at your convenience. It is evolutionary wiring, limbic truth, hard limits etched in flesh and neurons. You do not get to demonize our "no" because it inconveniences your narrative. Men are not women. Women are not men. Hormones, surgery, pronouns, and tears do not rewrite chromosomes, skeletal structure, or the visceral revulsion most lesbians feel toward male anatomy...no matter how artfully repackaged or how viciously you shame us for stating the obvious. Stay. In. Your. Fucking. Lane. The sane among us...the ones who still remember what actual same-sex love looks like without ideological asterisks...are done playing nice. Done pretending this expansion is progress instead of erasure. Done letting our flag be used as camouflage for an agenda that sterilizes gay kids, invades women's spaces, and demands we applaud our own obsolescence. We want nothing to do with your ideological quicksand. Cut the cord. Drop the letters. Take your dogma, your coercion, and your endless demands for affirmation and get the fuck out of our lane. We built this road. We bled for it. And we will defend it...with ferocity, with precision, with zero apology. 🗡️💀⚖️

Fusion is decades away The thermal gains need to be 10x higher to offset the parasitic load of plasma containment and c100x higher to be commercially viable Plus the reactions so far have been extremely short lived. They will need to be sustained before they can deliver reliable electricity This path you say you're clearing is decades long

A View From Yorkshire 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Drive-home thought… Yes, Britain has become poorer. Years of foolish decisions and short-sighted governments will do that to a country. But the decline you see everywhere now isn’t just economic. It’s something far more embarrassing. We’ve lost our pride. There was a time when people had less — smaller homes, older cars, wages that barely stretched to the end of the week — yet they still cared about their street, their town and the place they lived. People swept their front step. They cut the grass outside the gate. And they didn’t throw rubbish out of the car window like a toddler emptying a toy box. Now look around. Fast-food boxes in hedges. Energy drink cans rolling down the gutter. Plastic bags tangled in trees like pathetic little flags of surrender. If you want the clearest example, just take a look at motorway exit roads. Come off any motorway in Britain and the verges look like someone’s opened the car window and emptied a bin bag at 70mph. Coffee cups. Burger cartons. Plastic bottles. Lottery tickets. Entire takeaway meals apparently jettisoned mid-journey. And every single one of those bits of rubbish came from someone sitting in a perfectly good car who simply couldn’t be bothered to take it home. It’s not poverty. It’s laziness and a complete lack of self-respect. Previous generations didn’t need recycling apps, environmental campaigns, or a bin collection calendar that looks like the invasion plan for Normandy. They just understood one simple rule: Don’t live like a scruffy bastard. Take your rubbish home. Put it in a bin. Show a bit of pride in where you live. Because governments might make a country poorer… …but only its people can turn it into a tip.

‼️ Right let me explain this for MPs who think Rachel Reeves’s announcement is good. It isn’t, it’s bollocks (technical term) Labour will announce today that Ai and quantum computing needing data centres will be prioritised for connection to the grid. Not wind farms, not solar, not houses  but DATA CENTRES. This at a the same time tens of thousands of new homes are delayed because they can’t get a connection to the grid, do you even know this? In addition, thousands more new homes have already been built but can’t be occupied because there is no power. So they are sat there rotting!  And then there are the developments being stalled or abandoned altogether because connection dates are 10 years away. The system is a total mess and guess what the grid upgrade, paid for by bill payers is even longer away. What Labour is effectively saying is that a technology requiring enormous amounts of electricity, plus net zero policies that could almost double the entire UK’s electricity requirement, will take priority over housing and everyday demand. And don’t forget this is the very technology predicted to displace up to 60% of the white-collar workforce, yet it is being prioritised ahead of people, homes and even basic capacity. And let’s be clear this £2.5 billion push to make the UK “number one” in AI and quantum computing is exactly what’s driving the explosion in demand for data centres and power. Now you know what those SMART meters and digital IDs are for 💣

@afneil EU AI Act is already driving capital to the US and UK. Aligning with Brussels on single market rules means importing their regulatory framework by default. You cannot be 3rd in AI globally while adopting the rules of a bloc that is dead last in frontier model development.

It is being reported that Chancellor Rachel Reeves will today argue for increasing alignment with European Union single market rules and greater development of artificial intelligence (AI) in Britain. Who will tell her she can have one or the other — but not both? While the UK is already the 3rd biggest AI power on the globe (after USA/China) the EU’s ‘prudential’ approach to regulation had already made it an AI backwater. The EU will understandably not let us pick and mix when it comes to closer alignment, which would inevitably mean our AI development coming within the dead hand of the Brussels’ regulatory ambit. She’d never give me an interview but perhaps someone from His Majesty’s Political Press Corps, which does have regular access to her, might like to mug up on this and ask her how these conflicting aims can be reconciled.
