@jabo_vancouver I legit used to agree with you, but I actually have come to think they’re reasonably helpful in framing conversations and as an analytical tool (when they’re statistically based). End of the day, thinkinh about comparables when assessing value is sort of the point!

Stenberg reminds me of no one because draft comparables are the greatest media created bullshit that means absolutely nothing. They are done to create chatter, and bravo, they do their job, but don't think for one second they mean anything.

Viggo Björck winning puck battles against NHL players and holding his own in the circle against Ryan O’freaking’Reilly at 18. Because he’s 5-foot-9.5, however, as per NHL tradition, the third best player in the class will be available in the teens (just test driving this take).

If Hronek is actually onthe trade block, the #NHLBruins need to get on the phone. The right-shot defender is turning 29 in November, has six years remaining on his contract at $7.25 million, and has topped 35 points in 4 of the last 5 years. Acquiring him allows you to maximize the Pastrnak/McAvoy window while also providing you the runway to draft/develop defensive prospects for the next wave of Bruins. If the price is right, I'd like to see a deal

@Hockey_Robinson Any chance they hire both Gold and Johnson?

There's a lot of chatter that the Canucks are narrowing down their GM search. Seems that Evan Gold, Ryan Johnson, and perhaps other name(s) who have been less discussed, if at all, appear to be pushing for the finish line. Seems hard to believe Canucks are going to go with an untested AGM from a large front office with no playing experience or local ties. Goes against the grain for what we’ve been told.

For the "this is why you don't tank" folks, what exactly is the #Canucks' alternative? Vancouver was 32nd in the NHL by pt% in mid-December *with Quinn Hughes on the roster*. You're either buying o supplement this group, or you're continuing to tear this down. Easy choice.

For the fanbases sweating the lottery in 90 minutes… Missing out on 1st overall this year isn’t a disaster. McKenna’s a great talent, but there’s still legit high-end value with the next couple of picks. Take a breath.

@nucks0 The main difference is that Kotkaniemi and Hayton's draft stock rose after they stopped playing, close to the draft. Malhotra's is rising based on his playoff performance.

I’ve watched a few more Caleb Malhotra games today and I’ve been impressed. Also noted things I missed. Gonna dive more into the rabbit hole tomorrow. In general, I don’t think my Kotkaniemi comparison is true at all.
