@joshmcgoo Do paracevrical block 100% of the time and our office offers insertion with IVS twice per month. So we can book all of those who want it with IVS. IUD insertion should NEVER be done unmedicated

So IUD insertion is normally just like "take a motrin after"? No nerve block, benzo, nothing?

@UshmaU Also, it does nothing to solve the underlying issue, which is that providers are being asked to make legal decisions (is this patient close enough to dead?) and not clinical decisions (what care should I provide?).

Wow 🤩 This is a great summary of this complex case and why we shouldn’t be celebrating yet.

Now I am 31 I'd like seasoned ladies to comment below, where to get a nasty ol pair of platform slides with arch support, and a big ol well built sunhat, not the cheap straw that sheds all over. And some good ol granny pannies good quality ones that make ya feel grown. thank you

@TheRyanHamilton The same thing happened to me in a Catholic ER in 2004. All of the consequences of Dobbs are known, because we’ve seen them happen in Catholic healthcare for decades. I don’t know why anyone is still surprised.

Maybe I should clarify a few things: My wife was actively bleeding & denied a D&C even after it was determined our baby had no heartbeat. I don't understand why people keep quoting current Texas law, and saying it never could/would happen. IT HAPPENED! Also, a D&C (dilatation and curettage) and an "Abortion" require the SAME PROCEDURE. Not removing the fetus could have resulted in sepsis and/or death. She was sent home on 3 separate occasions. She was prescribed misoprostol which was administered at home, where she bled for 3 days straight, and after I discovered her unconscious in our bathroom had to be rushed to the hospital for life saving care. Our story is TRUE. This is NOT political propaganda. There is no GoFundMe (we will pay our own medical bills, thank you) THE CURRENT ABORTION LAWS IN TEXAS ARE WHY THIS HAPPENED! IT NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED! We don't wish this nightmare on anyone. Not even the vile people who continue to attack us. I'm going to do my best to MAKE SURE this is not the world my daughter has to grow up in.

@jdillardwright By this paper’s logic, sexual assault that does not cause physical damage (ie, most SA) is not violence. Neither is IPV until someone is injured. Neither are emotional or financial abuse, or secondary traumas of any kind. Cool story, bro.

I’ve been on this class of medication for nearly a decade for my diabetes and have been counseled about this the entire time. The pill is not compatible with ozempic/mounjaro/trulicity
Susan Rinkunas @susanrinkunas on Bluesky ☁️@SusanRinkunas

PSA, especially to people in states with abortion bans: “Women are reporting unexpected pregnancies while taking [Ozempic] — even if they’ve struggled with infertility or are using birth control” people.com/ozempic-babies…

Q: How many states currently restrict abortion? Tell me how you answer this question and I’ll tell you if we have the same goals.

@garnethenderson @AngryBlackLady He’s a catholic. Everyone knows this. Frankly I think it’s *stronger* for a catholic President to say “I think life begins at conception but I also think it’s not my place to legislate my religion.” This is a nuanced view, and most people have nuanced opinions about abortion. 🤷🏽‍♀️

@Fuentes_Liza @andreavbecker This seems to suggest that Plan B and even abortion (where legal) are no more stressful or inconvenient than a haircut. Am I misreading, or are there a large number of people who really feel that way? People who've had a pregnancy scare?

@AngryBlackLady What happened to Watts was just enraging. As an aside, Mercy still operates Allen hospital in Oberlin & ran student health for a year before they got terminated. Catholic health orgs are incr often the only option in rural areas.

@Fuentes_Liza I couldn’t afford to do a post-doc at NIH standard pay, which was and is about ⅔ less than I could make as a bedside nurse. That continues to have implications for my career. As a parent while in grad school, my commitment to academia was always questioned.
