The idea that ministers' LLM usage is FOI-able is insane. Government should have contested this way more strongly. Clearly should have fallen under the policy development exemption, otherwise we more or less guarantee no minister will use AI at a time that adoption is key!

@JuliaLopezMP Unfortunately, in one of the most absurd rulings I can remember, ministers' ChatGPT usage is deemed to be FOI-able. This is obviously hugely corrosive and more or less guarantees that no minister will (say they) use AI. See e.g. gov.uk/government/pub…

Seems @DefenceHQ realized it’s big video “reveal” showing British engineers at a workshop repairing vehicles inside Ukraine was quite a flub, as it revealed identifiable features and featured @LukePollard going so far as to describe the surroundings, making it likely to be geolocated and targeted by Russia. The post has been taken down but the damage is done.

Today’s massive russian missile strike on critical infrastructure has failed.
The Ukrainian Air Force demonstrated high effectiveness — 25 out of 29 missiles and 367 out of 396 drones were shot down. That amounts to roughly 90% effectiveness.

Russia’s so-called “special military operation,” which Putin expected to finish in three days, has now lasted 1,418 days, longer than the German-Soviet War of 1941–1945.
Since Putin likes to compare the Soviet army with its supposed successor, the Russian army, it’s worth noting that during the German-Soviet War, the Red Army stopped the German advance, reached Berlin, and took it under control.
In the same period of time, the Russian army has advanced less than 60 km beyond the pre-war line in Donetsk Oblast, while suffering losses per square kilometer that exceed even Stalin-era records.
Putin likely imagined himself as a ruler who would restore Russia within the borders of the USSR or even the Russian Empire.
But in reality, drawing maps in the Kremlin and dreaming of conquering Europe is not the same as fighting with North Korean ammunition on the outskirts of Kupiansk, while littering scorched land with thousands of bodies of your own soldiers.

Figures circulating online only refer to recent arrivals. In fact, there are thousands of illegal migrants or foreign criminals already in the UK from Angola, Namibia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. As a result of these new agreements, many can now be removed or deported. This is just the start of the measures we are taking to secure our borders.

I am afraid Putin will be quietly pleased with the results of the European Council. He has effectively intimidated the EU - and the UK - into dropping an excellent plan to fund Ukraine. The reparations loan would have liberated huge sums from Putin’s frozen assets in a way that was morally and legally watertight. It would have given Ukrainians the ability to defend themselves for years to come.
As things now stand the plan for a €90bn EU loan is better than nothing - but still a distant second. Chancellor Merz of Germany and Ursula von der Leyen of the EU Commission deserve congratulations for their leadership, and their willingness to stand up to Putin. It is a great shame that they were ultimately thwarted by other EU countries including, shamefully, some countries who were actually invaded by Russia in the last century.
As for the UK, where have we been? We have about £15bn of Russian assets in London and yet Starmer has said nothing. We could have led the campaign. We have sat on the sidelines. It is not too late for us to act.

I used to think people yapping about how great Herman Miller chairs are were larping but I just got one recently and tbh if you work from home or are required to sit on a chair for 3+ hours per day it genuinely is life changing it took me about 2 work days of using it to realize that I should've got one literal YEARS ago the meta is to get a partially used one from facebook marketplace or when offices are shut down they resell theirs for a big discount trust caiden, get one, report back when ur life changes. FYI the model I got was the "Herman Miller Sayl Chair" in white.
