In today's Odd Lots newsletter, I wrote about why I'm such an evangelist of Walter Ong Thought. Why I think the Return To Orality is the biggest story of our time. And how we're completely rewiring the logic engine of the human brain.

Really useful info in the blog below about the strikes at #ASSA2025 and how to participate if you want to support striking workers. One easy way: change your hotel reservation! AEA has extended the deadline to change to Dec 12 Non striking hotels at: fairhotel.org

ctd. "...if unresolved the ASSA must proceed with the conference and the hotels will bring in personnel from around the country to support. The hotels have had many weeks to adjust to this change and there should be little or no effect on hotel services."

Per AEA: "...employees at all five of the main hotels on Union Square (Hilton, Parc 55, Marriott Marquis, Westin, Grand Hyatt SF) with which AEA has contracted for the largest blocks of rooms and the only accompanying meeting space are currently on strike."

The AEA's annual conference is at the @HiltonSFUnionSq, where @UniteHereL2 workers are on strike. The AEA should not do business with hotels where workers are striking. The AEA should not make attendees cross the picket line. #econtwitter @AEAInformation

Thanksgiving spirit on the picket line today! @Hilton, @Hyatt, and @Marriott should know... hotel workers aren't afraid to strike through the holidays and into 2025 to protect our families, our health care, and our city!

@PhilCorlett1 @JulesEvans11 The language of 'correction' is absurd. The egregious unethical conduct is the issue, not just the failure to disclose it. Neither is 'correctable.' Retract is the obvious avenue. An ban on future human subjects research also seems appropriate.

@BL_Balthaser Of course. It’s mind-boggling. I would have a hard time believing it if I hadn’t done the analysis. I’ve still got questions about the cumulative risk across infections. I’m sorry to hear that it’s reflected in your experience.

@BL_Balthaser W/ occupational segregation in care, like home health workers, it could mean upwards of 50%+ have/had covid at any single point in time. Almost certainly impacts quality of care. It's bad for everyone involved.

@BL_Balthaser It's 45% of ppl in the <$25k income group - we have similar findings by education. HUGE portion of the working class. (and otherwise the income group %s would add to 100%)
