I have been an advocate for trustworthy AI. The California "killswitch" bill is considered a temporary patch for the AI issue until we develop truly trustworthy AI (or a genuine OpenAI). There are two critical steps needed to build trustworthy AI. Both are challenging but represent significant opportunities for the future: 1. Establishing a mathematical theory behind AI: We need a solid mathematical foundation to truly understand how AI works. Professor Gary Marcus @GaryMarcus , the first to call GenAI bubble, describes the current GenAI models, like Sora, as impressive but akin to morphing and splicing rather than providing the deep reasoning needed for AGI. As access to these models expands, we may encounter more systemic glitches, many of which will be difficult to remedy. 2. Ensuring transparency in AI development: This includes the entire AI lifecycle, from data collection and labeling to model training, fine-tuning, and deployment. Blockchain-powered decentralized AI @oortech is one potential approach to achieving this transparency, though other solutions may emerge. Very few understand that this MasterCard & MetaMask will de-anonymize and KYC every user who gets a MetaMask debit card. And while this is a good step for massive adoption, other side of the coin that is defeats the purpose of decentralized finance. Who will profit from reinforced KYC on crypto users? Banks and regulators. Who will not profit from this? DEX natives. Wasted.
