Decades of evidence show that supporting parents: • strengthens child development • reduces family stress • improves long-term outcomes • lowers downstream system costs Parenting support is one of the smartest early investments we can make.

'Mum, Dad, I'm bored!' It is OK for kids to feel bored. Boredom can help children develop some important skills during these holidays. @DrMazzucchelli from @CurtinUni shows how parents can help. #Echobox=1704318380" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">theconversation.com/mum-dad-im-bor…

@gjfitzgerald @ConversationEDU I'm afraid I don't agree. I think parents are doing the best job they can, but it's a super tricky job. It is very easy to fall into "traps" where parents and children end up accidentally rewarding behaviour we weren't exactly hoping for!

Parents may be familiar with the scenario of a child behaving well at school, and then having a meltdown at home in the afternoon, writes @DrMazzucchelli (@Curtin_Uni). So, why can kids be good around other people but badly behaved with parents? 🤔 #Echobox=1699827771" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">theconversation.com/why-are-my-kid…

@pieinsky322 @ConversationEDU I agree, it is important that children can be themselves. However, it is also important that children learn to behave and express themselves within certain boundaries. Parents can value their children's individuality while still expecting them to respect others.

@CastIronBalcony @ConversationEDU I agree, this is a common belief, and there is nothing wrong with expressing frustration and anger. However, it is important that children learn to express these emotions in socially acceptable ways.

@ConversationEDU @DrMazzucchelli The article doesn't state one of the main reasons which is because the child feels secure and therefore can express frustration, anger etc. a "perfect" child is a fearful child
