Yesterday was a big win.
Having presented Ripot to my trainers and other members of my unit earlier, we used it to report our endoscopies for the first time.
And the result was wonderful.
They were impressed by the ease of the workflow and the premium-looking output. At one point, my mentor said to her colleague:
“This one is actually better than that one we’ve been using.”
It was a proud moment for me.
Appreciating its value, they will also be adopting Ripot for their personal use.
I’m especially happy because it solved the exact problems I set out to solve:
- smoother and faster workflow
- professional, beautiful output
- shorter time for patients to get their reports
It was an important moment for me, affirming that Ripot has practical value and can solve real-world reporting problems.

When I decided to learn app development, I tried a few frameworks.
But once I tried Flutter, it clicked almost immediately.
The UI felt innately beautiful. And once I started getting a hang of Dart, coding became interesting.
Udemy courses, including Angela Yu’s Flutter course, helped me build the foundation.
But Ripot gave me the real growth.
Building it forced me to move from using setState everywhere to understanding Provider for state management.
It also forced me to think seriously about project architecture.
I started with a feature-based organization, then moved toward a layered structure to handle the complexity of report generation.
Later, at a higher level, I returned to feature-based organization to make room for other distinct areas like Records, Auth, and Access.
With this architectural design, the app became easier to reason about as it grew.
It takes more effort to understand and appreciate a more effective system, but that effort is always worth it.

I have been working on an app for reporting procedures.
At first, the idea was simple: create a digital tool to help myself and my team report endoscopies, since we were still issuing handwritten reports.
A project I thought would take a few months stretched into almost two years.
As I discussed with people, I began to see that the solution should not be limited to endoscopy. So I kept refining the app, improving the UI, rethinking the workflow, and of course, fighting bugs - this one almost peeled my eyes.
I’m pleased to share that Ripot is now out.
The web version is available, while the Android version is currently in closed testing.
I hope to share the things I’ve learned, and the things I’m still learning, on this interesting journey of building software as a clinician.

The Senate committed a COUP against our Democracy and the Nigerian people yesterday.
Let me again remind the Senators that it is not wise to play with fire.
It simply is not wise.
Transparency is always better.
My fellow Citizens, let nobody deceive or confuse you.
What all well-meaning Nigerians want passed by the National Assembly @nassnigeria - @SenateNGR and @HouseNGR as @inecnigeria Reform is a Bill which legally mandates electronic transmission of polling units results in real time and without any CONDITIONS attached.
What we want is what the members of the House of Representatives have already passed with this simple and HONEST text:
“Clause 60(3): “INEC shall electronically transmit election results from polling units to the INEC Result Viewing Portal in real time and such transmission shall be done simultaneously with the physical collation of results.”
Period!
No ifs, no buts, no whataboutism and no provisos.
The proviso below that the Senate added to Clause60(3) :
“If electronic transmission fails or becomes impossible to use, the signed Form EC8A shall be the primary source of election results”
IS A GRAVE DANGER TO OUR DEMOCRACY.
It will permanently damage the same Transparency that we as Citizens are demanding for in all our Election Results.
Your vote and mine CAN NEVER COUNT with such deceptive and ill-intended proviso by the Senate.
The Senators know what they are doing.
They simply don’t want TRANSPARENCY.
Transparency through electronic transmission of results in real time at each polling unit will END their opportunity to RIG our elections.
Fellow Nigerians, know this for real, @SenateNGR is determined to hijack Nigeria’s Democracy and continue with their Bad Governance that is perpetuating Poverty among Nigerians and killings across our Land.
We, the Citizens of Nigeria and not politicians are the REAL OWNERS of Democracy.
We must collectively stand to defend our rights to TRANSPARENCY.
Our Girls Guide motto when we were in Secondary School is:
Be Prepared. ✍🏾✍🏾✍🏾

As we bemoan the dearth of medical doctors in Nigeria, a consultant neurosurgeon at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teachin Hospital, Nnewi, Anambra state, Dr. Mbanugo Tochukwu was kidnapped 2 days ago in front of his house on the 30th of October 2025. The kidnappers are yet to establish any contact with his family
It's important to note that Dr. Mbanugo had spent nearly the entire day on that fateful day operating several cases in the theatre, including resecting a really complex brain tumour that took hours.
He's said to have finished around 8 pm and headed home, exhausted and hungry, in the hope of relaxing at home after a long day and having a decent meal, only to be kidnapped in front of his gate by armed men.
Neurosurgeons are very, very scarce specialists in Nigeria. Dr. Mbanugo chose to stay back and give back to his country even when he possesses a rare skillet that will automatically put him in the top 1% anywhere else in the world, and this is how he is rewarded.
The Anambra state government needs to act very quickly to avert the worst possible outcome in this case. No campaign activity is more important than the life of any Anambrarian.
