Gov. Andrew Cuomo clarified changes in mask policy for schools in New York on Monday. He said children don’t have to wear masks outside, but do have to wear them inside.

The first mention of masking at school was a little gray, the second discussion was clear. NYS School Guidance will be amended to allow for optional masks outdoors (done). However, no anticipated change to indoor mask requirements before summer.

Cuomo just addressed the mask mandate in schools, but it's still a little unclear to me. He did make clear NY will rescind the mask mandate for students during OUTDOOR activity. "Inside school is obviously different," Cuomo said. "And then it's up to the local school districts"
