The health policy community is engaged in a conversation regarding "trust." Trust in science, trust in physicians, trust in institutions like the CDC and trust in health care leaders. Here are the facts: people and families trust their family physician and seek out their guidance. ✔️ 83% of people trust medical guidance from family physician. ✔️ 89% of people with a chronic disease trust guidance from a family physician. ✔️ 87% of people look to their family physician for guidance on preventive health. ✔️ 80% of people who have a family physician believe that regularly seeing their family physician is crucial to maintaining their overall health.

Public health workers must never become targets. Healthcare facilities must never become battlegrounds, and facts must never yield to fear.

You don’t notice public health—until it fails. The reason you don’t worry about smallpox? Or cholera in your tap water? It’s because decades of public health work made those dangers disappear. But here’s the thing: diseases don’t just go away forever. They come back if we stop doing the work until it fails. Seeing how much public health has done matters. But seeing isn’t enough. Knowing a crisis is preventable isn’t the same as preventing it. It’s like knowing there’s gold in a mountain—but never digging. If we want to keep our families safe and our communities strong, we have to protect what’s protecting us. #PublicHealth #PreventionSavesLives #HealthMatters #StayInformed #CommunityHealth #HealthAwareness #HealthTips #GlobalHealth #WellnessJourney #HealthForAll

Yesterday, Rubio terminated 5800 USAID contracts – more than 90% of its foreign aid programs – in defiance of the courts. Here’s a list of just some of the lifesaving awards that were terminated. Nearly all were Congressional mandated. They've saved millions of lives. 🧵

As both a citizen and physician, I am appalled by the harm described in this affidavit towards a civil servant and his pregnant wife at the hands of his own government and employer. It is abandonment. It is wrong.
Kyle Cheney@kyledcheney

JUST IN: Another medical horror story in a court affidavit from a USAID employee stationed overseas. Says his pregnant wife was not medevac-ed for emergency health care because of directives from Washington. Took intervention of a U.S. senator to reverse — but was too late.

Dismantling USAID is a moral blunder and strategic mistake. Misinformation and disinformation fomenting its desmise are hurting America, its soft power and real human beings. It's in America's self interest to alleviate suffering and death abroad. @PIH nytimes.com/2025/02/06/opi…

Dismantling USAID is antithetical to West Michigan values and a virtuous America. It's in our interest to build businesses, expand markets and alleviate suffering and death abroad. @RepHuizenga please hear Andrew Natsios, USAID chief under George W. Bush: youtu.be/3jMq5XzVBng?si…

The potential for a pandemic is low until it is not. Individual risk of exposure to #H5N1 can be low even as more animal and human infections occur - the latter of which increases probability of the emergence of a novel virus with increased clinical severity or transmissibility.
