A nuclear policy right now for Australia is a fossil fuel policy. Sure, plan for nuclear, decarbonised electricity will never go astray. Set the stage, change the law to start - but not at the expense of renewables. This is a delaying tactic, nothing else.

Anyway, a rant likely no one will read based on my twitter engagements but just something I've been thinking about to depress me further over the general state of the world...

Just like we want the PEOPLE doing the research to be diverse, we also need the institutions doing the research to also be diverse. Research and academics needs to serve the whole country, not just the big cities.

I can't stop thinking about ARC outcomes for regional Universities. Large metropolitan Universities attract large international student numbers, which swells their income and allows for high investment in research - now seen as a luxury in the the University sector.
