Journal entry for this week. I seem to be marking the passage of time by wildflowers blooming.

@AllotmentCat This is fantastic news Maurine! It has really made our morning.

(Maurine) This is the closest I've ever been to one of the humans. I'm starting to trust Andy a little bit but I'm not ready to be stroked by him yet. I've got a good feeling about him though. He seems very patient and I think we may be friends one day. What do you think?

(Maurine) I've been a bit quiet lately. No particular reason, I'm just taking my time to settle down. I let Rachel take this photo of me yesterday but I didn't hang around. I've seen how friendly Amanda is with the humans but I'm not like her. I keep my distance from most of them. Most of them......apart from Andy. I am slowly beginning to trust him and I've got photos to prove it. Would you like to see them? I'll show you tomorrow.

Keeping it simple. Starting small. Just got my brushes wet two weeks ago for the first time in ages. So far all I've done is two sunflowers. It's a start.

With a broken💔I wanted to let everyone know that Boycee was put to sleep today😰.He had developed severe neurological problems which deteriorated rapidly.The vet believed that the breeders hadn’t given him the best start.Love you Boycee bach will c u again somedayx

We started feeding her in December 2024 it took months to gain her trust & she began to let us touch her The first cuddle felt like an Olympic victory It was a fine dry summer & autumn & we didn’t know where she slept, she appeared each morning, hung around all day then disappeared at night. But as the weather got cold 🥶 it became wet & the days shortened, we began to worry about her We had provided access to the garage & a safe dry space to sleep in, but she wouldn’t use it. We got her an outdoor igloo & mounted it high on the fence where she liked to sit She loved it & moved in that night we called it #MarthasMansion Then it got very cold & seeing frost or snow was awful, she would let us bring her in through the day, but she retreated to #MarthasMansion at night Until the dreadful day she was so cold & wet her fur went stiff was frost & we brought her in & didn’t let her leave …… We anticipated her becoming upset? However she embraced it & we’ve never looked back For a few days she appeared terrified to leave in case she couldn’t get back in Now she’s confident that it’s her home & she happily wanders in & out to the garden but returns to #HerRoom in #HerHome She’s very much settled in & is very much our cat now #MarthasForeverHome #CatsOfX #CatsOfTwitter

(Amanda) I can't stop thinking about the competition that Janet and I won. Thank you for all the comments you made yesterday. Betty wants me to tell you that she loves reading them. She said that even though she has never met most of you it feels like you are part of her family. That's a good thing, isn't it?

In May 2019 we lost Brogie🌈 aged 18 We were shattered at his loss & unusually for us felt completely unable to get another dog immediately. Because we always rescue we have always felt that losing a dog creates a home for another one in need? Not as a replacement but as a gesture of love! We had been feeding PussPuss for several months & she was living in the garage, but never came near the house….. until a few days after Brogie’s🌈death, we were watching telly, Snoopy🌈 & Mo🌈 were with us, PussPuss strutted in & jumped on the back of the settee, both dogs jumped up, PussPuss stood their ground, Snoopy🌈 & Mo🌈 sat down #AndThatWasThat We have always believed that Brogie🌈 sent us PussPuss to make us 3 again & fill the void It would be nice to think that Ronnie🌈 guided Martha to us too. Like PussPuss we had been feeding her for months, but she kept her distance up on the wall We’re very pleased to be back to 4 In time after my surgery we will get another dog. Not to replace Ronnie, but to honour him by gifting a needy dog a home & a safe, loved life #BrogieSnoopyMoRonnieWelovedThemAllSoVeryMuch

@AllotmentCat Happy New Year to everyone at the Allotments. It was wonderful to see you two girls together yesterday. Janet has become a different cat lately and it is thanks to your kind and caring humans.

(Amanda) Betty told me that today is a special day and I should with you all a Happy New Year. I feel very happy when I think about how Janet and I spent some time together yesterday. She is 15 years old now and has lived all her life at the allotments. I hope I see her again today.

Morning, December is here. Saturday evening we had the pleasure of helping to carry this wonderful lantern in our Town’s Christmas lights parade. We had helped make the wings. The Christmas lights are all put up by volunteers and really are spectacular for a little rural town.1/2

Morning, have had to give up knitting recently, lots of shoulder pain. Daughter has requested a Fair Isle stocking for grandson to use at Christmas and reminded me of this blanket I made a few years back. I’m having a play today to see if shoulder can take it. Wish me luck!
