I am leaving #Ameriturf and moving back home to South Dakota to become a GCS. I have nothing but respect for Ameriturf. I will miss my AR/OK customers/friends. The opportunity and timing is just too perfect to pass up. It's been a good run down south! Back to the frozen tundra!

Topped out at 103* today. Everyone on staff was home by noon. Zero hose pulling. Greens are fast and firm. What a beautiful day in Hartford, SD!

@GCIMagazineGuy If said person is a boss and doesn't realize not everyone that works for him/her is fulfilled with that same mindset, that's one reason that it's regularly viewed as a negative.

Why is it regularly viewed as a negative if somebody puts work above other things in their life? For some, work brings tremendous fulfillment. The life direction and perks that come with jobs and careers have improved far more lives than they have wrecked.

@iTweetTurf @michaelpbreuer Idk. Probably. But I've seen some with big budgets hire assistants from within, so who knows. Another note, I've yet to be asked to see my college transcript for any Asst, Supt, or Turf Sales job I've ever had. Which makes me wonder how much education is actually needed vs wanted

@DreesenRob @michaelpbreuer Agreed. Most positions could be filled from within. Also I’m just giving my opinion here. It’s not the right answer, it is just my thought.

Alright turfies, you’re giving advice to a young person interested in turfgrass management. Do you advise them to get a 4 year degree, 2 year degree, or one year certificate?

@iTweetTurf @michaelpbreuer Obviously you're entitled to your opinion. Doesn't make either of us right or wrong. A million assistant jobs open every year and imo at least half could be filled from within.

@DreesenRob @michaelpbreuer Disagree with this. Most clubs I work with won’t advance someone to an assistant position without some education in turf.
