@Monsignor_Pipi @oliver_drk If steam goes down you can certainly play the games you have installed on your PC. If you download the files of the games on an SSD you can certainly play them. Steam is just a shortcut launcher, not an interface that controls everything you do.

@swissch33z @TheDezembro I, on the other hand, cannot understand why people have multiple games installed. I focus on one game at a time, play it, finish and get the platinum and uninstall. There's no reason to just sit there and take space. Chances are, you won't replay that game for a while

@TheDezembro That's actually insane to me that people just delete what they're not playing. So if you suddenly decide "Hey, I want to play (old game) again", you can't just boot it up. You have to wait for it to download. Better hope it's still available, and your save data is in the cloud.

The "gAmErS cHoSe ThIs" narrative trying to justify the *END* of physical media is really funny. So is the idea that this is "physical-only crowd" vs "digital-only crowd". The average gamer engages with both options depending on game, price and convenience and they don't want an entire chunk of the market to be terminated. Digital is still where most purchases are made these days but the physical OPTION is clearly valued in the console world. Twitter discourse around this is fucking filled with botfarms and retards trying to create a false consensus that only like fkin 12 people are "still buying games on disc". Why is it that SOME data gets acknowledged as player preference, but other data like the disc-console preference and the disc-drive sales doesn't??

@Monsignor_Pipi @oliver_drk But with physical you have more money exchanging hands, but it has little to do with Sony. Ok, they might not dictate the price, but you will never have used games with digital. And if somehow you lose your account, all your library goes with it

@Drei0909 @oliver_drk Yes, you can often find better deals with physical games. You can also often find better deals with digital games. The idea that digital is always going to be more expensive than physical is a fallacy. Sony don't dictate the prices on their storefront.

@Monsignor_Pipi @oliver_drk You can find better deals with physical games. And speaking for myself, I have never bought a single digital game. Astro bot came pre installed with my PS5, and that's the only digital game I have. And I'm pretty sure there's many people out there just like me

I'm so drained from the Sony drama I don't even care what happens anymore. If you all end up playing games on a streaming service via PSN then so be it. However Sony's silent treatment is a dealbreaker for me. I simply can't give my money to a company that purposely ignores me.

It looks like Sony doesn't want to go back to producing physical games and they don't even care about gamers backlash at this point. Alanah Pearce (former Santa Monica Studio writer) commented on the situation "Sony already knew everyone would be pissed off" mindblowing right? She later added that "People working within PlayStation first-party studios told me Sony had the strictest social media guidelines for this particular thing they’ve ever seen issued.” She also mentioned that, from Sony's perspective this is worth it because selling games digitally means they'll earn about 50% more per game sold. In short, It looks like Sony has probably told its employees not to comment on the situation at all, and they're just going with the silent treatment. Their bet is that gamers will eventually forget about all of this and switch to an all-digital future. What is your opinion on this?

@KnealKp @ivvanex @PlayStation A pc is not only for gaming. It literally does everything a console does and more. You have no idea what a 3k PC does and it shows. My 700£ PC from 10 years ago is still running perfectly.

Imagine complaining about monthly subscriptions when you’re gonna pay $3000 upfront in the first place. You’re gonna have to pay 15 years worth of subscriptions upfront….Beyond the cost of a PlayStation or Xbox ….before you have any games. If you don’t care about the money, that’s fine. I don’t care either. But let’s just not talk about the money then. That’s not that like you’re actually saving money spending thousands more upfront….
