Early Wednesday morning, the FDNY responded to a 5-alarm fire at 17 53rd Street in Brooklyn. Over 250 firefighters and EMS personnel responded. Two firefighters were treated for minor injuries. “Upon arrival, we had heavy fire throughout a factory with extension to two other factory-type buildings. We immediately went to an exterior operation and transmitted multiple alarms to bring our resources to the scene. We set up many tower ladders, large caliber exterior streams, and we used two fire boats. At one point we were using approximately 15,000 gallons of water a minute,” said Chief of Fire Operations Kevin Woods. FDNY Fire Marshals are working to determine the cause of the fire.
