YIMBY is the local farmers market with the young regenerative cattle rancher. It's the guy who likes walkable cities with epic ornamentation. Courtyards in dense housing.
NIMBY is the super target built on top of the land all the above could have fit in.
AFAIK at least
English

@DrewLoewen So a YIMBY would’ve pro local culture and anti giant random shit?
English

I know there are two groups, YIMBY and NIMBY. I know they both hate each other.
However I don’t really get the whole beef?
If someone wanted to build a golf course near me I’d be a NIMBY. If they wanted to build mixed use shops and apartments I’d be a YIMBY. I can’t be using these terms correctly.

@kalezelden Epic post. This deserves 1000x the impressions it has currently.

@elonmusk Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is useful.
It's essentially debating yourself, and confronting the less rational parts.
If you're going to be introspective, do so in a way that works.
English

Reinforcing negative neural pathways via therapy or introspection is a recipe for misery. Don’t cut a rut in the road.
Marc Andreessen 🇺🇸@pmarca
My big conclusion from this week: Introspection causes emotional disorders.

@Sensus_Fidelium "I beat the information out of them."
This is why we all love Fr. Ripperger.

@The_Catechumen They did ONE study on the lifespan of pipe smokers vs cigarette smokers.
cig smokers died earlier than non smokers

Strap in for this one:
> Gen X girlboss
> Lady "pastor"
> Hits middle age
>Divorces husband of 15 years (he's also a pastor)
> Takes leave of absence, calls it "extension ministry"
> Works as adjunct for Wesley Seminary, remotely
> Moves to US Virgin Islands
> Takes a job with Epstein
> extension ministry (?)
> Doesn't inform her bishop
> Handles logistics for literal Epstein Island
> "I didn't see nothing"
> Says on her blog (lol) that she had a "What would Jesus Do?" moment when thinking about whether she should work for literal Epstein (lololol)
> "jesus dined with criminals, so should I..."
> gets found out, she's suspended
I can't wait for her eventual book deal with Zondervan and articles in Christianity Today about "Finding Jesus in the face of Epstein"

Your parents know a part of you no one else ever will.
Your spouse knows a part of you that your parents never will.
And yet, none of them know you completely and perfectly.
Only the Father knows you that way.
All human relationships, even the best ones, have a certain sense of longing and loneliness in them at the end of the day. Even healthy relationships.
This is because you are supposed to be known by the Father.

@PresbyInn Most of these made me chuckle but "Aloysius Neville Figgy Puddington" is the one that really got me.

What Christian denominations/traditions sound like to normal people on X:
Trad Catholic: "Clearly you haven't read the Summa Thomisticæ of St. Vittorio Jose Canseco Maria Dominguez Palato Nuñez or you would know that..."
Orthodox: "This was already settled by that Holy Council of Epiphistos in 853 when they accepted the reply of Metropolitan Hierarch St. Χαρκουδεις Σοφροκουδες невежественный when he said..."
Scottish Presbyterians: "If you read "The Christian's Sure Defense Against the Stank of Antichrist by Robert MacSmellie, you'd see that..".
Continental Reformed: "the Disputatio of Johannes Blitzkrieg Van PeeShooten which was translated by Claude yesterday clearly indicates..."
Normie Catholics: "Scott Hahn's argument in 'A Rock and Hard Place' proves that the popes are..."
Baptist: "Robert Mooch's 'A Scriptural Catechism of Scriptural-Quotes, Composed to Avoid the Charge of Being Unscripturall in This Recent Controversy in Them Thar Hills' is my favorite source on this question..."
Anglo-Catholic: "This is all laid out in 'Catholic not Romish' by Aloysius Neville Figgy Puddington, where he says..."
Methodists: "Rev. Sarah Reed-Wiley said on her old Patheos blog that..."
Episcopal: *isn't on X, fell asleep tipsy on G&T's in his Connecticut beachouse because he's 73*
Gospel Coalition Evangelical: "Tim Keller has some great thoughts on this of course, but I'd like to take this from a different angle: the lyrics from the new Chappell Roan album..."
Southern Presbyterians: "you should buy the reprint of the works of confederate advisor and Presbyterian Deacon C.S. John "Reb" Buchanan, it'll clarify everything..."

@gonefishin1948 Italy, Poland, or Spain.
I would love to have the UK on this list, but wouldn't feel like that was a good idea right now.

@HansFiene and talk-to-text is designed to make embarrassing mistakes to force you to speak more clearly to refine the samples... and to humiliate you...
ngl it's probably true.
