@Aek366 @Drewuhuu Understanding the meaning of the words gay and homosexual is hardly trying to “enforce ideological purity” 😂

I can’t express how much pity and anger I feel toward gay men who are willing to throw their fellows under the bus for asserting boundaries. One day they’ll look back at themselves in disgust, at how easily they were captured by slogans disguised as inclusivity.

This is going to be a longish, rambling, bottle-of-wine-in-the-afternoon thread about why I take the dereliction of duty by (while conveniently continuing to fundraise in my name & presuming a right to still speak for me) nominally LGB orgs like Stonewall so personally.

Ben Appel’s WSJ piece “I’m Gay, but That Doesn’t Make Me ‘Queer’” is excellent and necessary. @benappel bravely stating what so many of us feel. Our sexuality doesn’t require rejecting what’s normal and legitimate. It doesn’t force us to embrace “queer” ideology or become an identity insurgent. He nails it. Queer theory isn’t gay rights; it’s a misguided rejection of shared human values and reality itself. It’s rare to see this perspective from a gay male in mainstream media. Well done, Ben.
Ben Appel@benappel

I’m in The Wall Street Journal today. I’m Gay, but That Doesn’t Make Me ‘Queer’ “My sexuality doesn’t obligate me to embrace a particular ideology or to reject the moral inheritance of the society that made my life possible.” wsj.com/opinion/im-gay…

@Aek366 Gay men are not monolithic in thought, politics, or expression. The one common trait they share is being same sex attracted. What you call ideological purity is nothing more than an attempt to override reality

@Drewuhuu Understanding an argument and finiding it convincing is not the same. Your position collapses under the slightest scrutiny.

@RandomGadgie @doberman_tony @RealPeterLeo A gay man willing to be guilted or shamed into sleeping with women as a supposed form of progress or self acceptance is a far more accurate description of internalized homophobia. Setting boundaries, and being comfortable in your sexuality is not.

@doberman_tony @RealPeterLeo @Drewuhuu Exactly. I'm glad you agree. Now you understand why being homosexual doesn't preclude you from homophobia (prejudice against homosexuals).

@Drewuhuu You start by saying gay men aren’t a monolith and end by trying to enforce ideological purity. That contradiction is doing most of the work here.

@JolythNOLA He explicitly states he’s gay in his profile, but who knows. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It doesn’t detract from the point I was making.

@Drewuhuu That doesn’t sound like a gay man (not that I have experience being a gay man). It sounds more like the GenZ version of a “phag hag”. (A transman obsessed with gay men who thinks they can get real gay men to date them)

@Manyliany I’ll admit that being gay is not a monolith. However, the common factor we share is our same sex attraction. If you’re “gay” and open to experiences with women you may need to rethink your sexuality. Otherwise I’d suggest finding some semblance of self respect.

@Drewuhuu Look, no one cares if you're a nymphomaniac who cares abt sex and nothing else. You do not speak for every gay men, especially not for me. You are just projecting your own personal experience and tastes on every gay, LOL.

One year in, and I’m still figuring it out but I’m so grateful for how far I’ve come. I’m excited for what the future holds as I keep living more authentically. (5/5)

One year ago today March 30, 2025, around 8 pm I finally decided it was time. Time to stop hiding. After dinner, I sat down with both of my parents and told them I’m gay. I was scared, but I knew I couldn’t keep living half a life. (1/5)

@Drewuhuu Let’s say you are a straight male and find a female that identifies as a woman that you are attracted to. They decide the next morning to identify as a man. You see them the next day before they speak to you and are still attracted to that female. Did your orientation change?

@eyeswideslvt It’s because of people like you that more and more gay men and lesbians are happily embracing being “transphobic”

- no one is forcing you to sleep w/ transwomen. People are simply stating that if you as a lesbian, cant/wont date a transwoman that makes you transphobic. Either embrace the label & deal with it, or change your attitude & you won’t get called a transphobe and bigot. Simple.

Sometimes I think you should shit with the fact that you might be a little bigoted and then work through that. Being bigoted went out of vogue years ago so now instead of acknowledging your bigotry you have to deny it exists. You don’t HAVE to change anything about yourself -
✨✨✨@xenopwussy

@eyeswideslvt lots of radfems only entered the discourse because y'all demanded that we lesbians include trans women in our dating pool, or else we're bigots who must "unlearn our genital preferences" (sexuality). if you weren't such incel losers about it, i would've stayed a good handmaiden

@Drewuhuu I mean, you literally just said you use your eyes. Did you say that? If you use your eyes, you can't be same sex attracted. Your eyes cannot see gametes. Your eyes cannot see chromosomes. They can't even see hormones. So if your attracted via eyes, you're not attracted to sex

“same sex attraction” is a conversion therapy term terfs are desperate to push conversion therapy on gay people the idea is to normalise conversion therapy and administer it online against our will while denying the history and origin of the term

@mushycrouton @TheRaymondHugo The definition of homosexual is literally same sex attracted. That’s not a conversion therapy phrase, it’s what a gay man is!

@Drewuhuu Ah, so your eyes. Great! Thanks for confirming that you cannot tell what sex someone was born as and that you use gendered clues to determine who you are attracted to! Not at all "same sex attracted" cause your eyes can't see anything related to sex.
