Today we are launching Inscriptions on Solana! Now anyone can put their nfts on-chain! (Just like Ordinals!) - basically inscriptions are solana addresses that contain images stored on-chain - this is distinct from NFTs, think of it as the component you normally store on arweave, except now images can be inscribed on-chain with its own address instead of just an html link - inscriptions are ranked by how early it is, similar to ordinals. this was done to introduce fomo and get people inscribing on-chain - so how do you inscribe? first, you can only inscribe an NFT that you have the update authority on (in layman's terms, you created it). this way, project owners will be the one to inscribe their collections - this also prevents holders inscribing a different image vs the one they own when they do not have update authority - you can mint an NFT using this tool: sol-tools.tonyboyle.io/nft-tools/crea…, you can also use foxytools or any of the available NFT minters - then head over to libreplex.io and click inscriptions then click inscribe yours - click use wallet contents then click fetch mints - you can now browse NFTs in your wallet. select the NFT that you just made and click inscribe - next is a 3 step process and you need to do every step. first click initialize, then click upload, select the image of the NFT from your hard drive to upload, then click resize then finally click inscribe - I highly recommend you first compress the image and turn it into webp format before you inscribe it, as you will pay solana in rent fees depending on how large the image you want to store is - here is a rough guide for rent fees: 10kb = .07 sol, 100kb = .7 sol, 1mb = 7 sol and 10mb = 70 sol. - once the NFT is fully inscribed, it will look like this in the metadata viewer. Left side is the off-chain image while right side is the inscribed image. Congrats!
