NEW: Fort Worth CRU specialist ambushed and shot in the eye while taking car burglary report On April 28, 2026, in north Fort Worth, Texas Civilian Response Unit Specialist Edward Zapata was taking a report for a car burglary when a suspect across the street opened fire with a rifle. Zapata was struck in the left eye by shrapnel.
