@ScottRoberts Everything that can be shaken will be.
Only those (people, institutions, ideas) who are strong and deeply rooted will endure.
Many new people coming to Christ with the revealed darkness. We need a strong church to hold them.

@WithinAllOfUs @grcastleberry So you would say Jesus was battling his own carnal thoughts in the wilderness?
Eve was deceived by her own mind?
Revelation 12, Michael fights thoughts and these ideas cause 1/3 of angels to fall?
Job endures what he does due to God's lack of assurance?
Serious question.
English

I concur, though we probably disagree on what the “power of Satan” is.
Satan literally means ‘accuser’ while the term devil is an adjective that means false accuser, But what does Scripture teach about that which accuses us? Does Paul not teach in Romans 2:15 that it is our thoughts that accuse us?
Did not Jesus say to Peter ‘get behind me Satan’ when Peter’s thoughts weren’t on the things of God in Matt 16:23?
This is a literary device called personification to teach a visual lesson on invisible matters, just as Sophia (wisdom) as a noble woman crying at the city gates, or as excellent wife in the Proverbs.
Carnal thoughts (as personified in the devil and satan) can touch each and every one of us, which is why they’re shown as a ravenous lion attempting to attack our peace in the Spirit.

I'm not usually into more sensational stories, but I believe there is clearly something happening where #Jesus is appearing to the #Muslim people & drawing them to himself.
All I can say is, WELCOME!
May #Christians show a loving witness, rather than fearful opposition to them!

A mind-bending true story about the "Man in White" who is appearing to Muslims in their dreams No one, and I mean NO ONE, is beyond the reach of the living God. facebook.com/10007438452867… Wow 😳 God really doesn't need us He just lets us in on it

@WithinAllOfUs @EFHutton123 @bitcoin_only @shane_pruitt78 @grok So the flesh continues after death if you are not in the light? Reincarnation?
At face I find this disagreeable, but I will give it consideration in light of Hebrews 12:8
English

In the Greek text, God doesn’t ’punish’, but he does chastise and correct to bring about a repentant mindset. Most of what you’ve posted in this thread alludes to that punitive guidance.
For example , we know from Scripture that God is light, and within Him there is no darkness at all (1Jn 1:5) We also know that God is over, through and within all of us (Eph 4:6), so there is no actual inner darkness.
But look at the wording used three times in Matthew, “cast into outer darkness”. This ‘outer’ darkness is the state of man with no connection to the inner light. It’s not an eternal punishment, but a state of living in the flesh.
When you research any of the chastisements in the NT, you will find that they are referring to mental and spiritual correction for a person’s benefit.
This again goes back to everything being lawful, but not beneficial, as the detriment of our actions may be the Father’s spiritual correction in our lives and not just physical karma.

@WithinAllOfUs @EFHutton123 @bitcoin_only @shane_pruitt78 @grok I would agree that scripture makes me believe that Christ will be very merciful in his verdicts; however, we do see him judging us how we judge/treat others, some harshly.
A common theme of the NT is exclusion by the Pharisee class, & inclusion by Jesus (the lost sheep/sinners).

English

@WithinAllOfUs @EFHutton123 @bitcoin_only @shane_pruitt78 @grok Jeff, there is a difference in essence & authority when comparing us to God. "Vengeance is the Lord's" not ours because He sits in a seat of authority.
How can you imply that there will be no harsh judgment when scripture is full of it. Putting a lot of weight on few key verses!
English

@WithinAllOfUs @EFHutton123 @bitcoin_only @shane_pruitt78 @grok I think that the parables can be a grace of ignorance.
The dividing sword is Christ. As knowledge comes to the world both opportunity & responsibility increase.
Do you live by or forsake the gift of understanding from Christ & his workers? Worthy/Unworthy? Reward or banishment?

English

@WithinAllOfUs @EFHutton123 @bitcoin_only @shane_pruitt78 @grok It is not purely about knowing/understanding but doing.
Wisdom = knowing right/wrong and acting accordingly
Foolishness = knowing right/wrong and acting apart from it
Simple = Not even knowing right/wrong very well
Linguistics is a part but not the whole of what is needed

English

@WithinAllOfUs @EFHutton123 @bitcoin_only @shane_pruitt78 @grok I think the judgment of Christ is where your theology breaks down. Being cast out is a real thing in the gospels. We see multiple NT passages where Christ is JUDGE.
Our appeal is to him. Though he is merciful & empathetic from his humanity; he is still just. There is RIGHT/WRONG

English

This is true, but God, being love, doesn’t hold any record of wrongs. We may have actions that aren’t beneficial to our life, and many that are even detrimental, but God doesn’t hold punishment for our stumbles either.
We have to live life for ourselves, not as gatekeepers for those around us. A pastor can teach that if we cheat on our spouse, that betrayal will affect the lives of at least three people, with serious consequences. They can teach of staying in prayer with God and in communication with our spouse.
That’s much different than preaching that the Bible doesn’t condone an action that is practiced by a majority of the cloud of witnesses in the Torah, all of whom are shown blessed by God.
This is why my theology isn’t literal, but views the general masculine terms of male/man/husband as our spiritual aspect, while the general feminine terms female/woman/wife refer to the material or physical. In this matter, the material is subject to, or submissive, to the spirit. This correlates these relationships as Paul described as a mystery, Christ and the church.
English

@WithinAllOfUs @EFHutton123 @bitcoin_only @shane_pruitt78 @grok Where does guilt & judgment fit into your paradigm?
Is this life all there is or are we eternal?
Are you a universalist?
Is Christ bodily now? Human? What is human?
I can see touch points of where scripture has taken me & where it's taken you, but there are sure distinctions.
English

Haha, I get that. They make us pay for convenience.
My theology is based on the foundation of the gospel being the state of humanity and Christ’s finished work.
First, we have to understand our initial state that we are born in to, which is translated as sin. When we understand that the literal interpretation of ‘sin’ means to be ‘without portion’ or ‘without form’, we realize that sin isn’t our outwardly actions, but is the state of a human that is spiritually deficient. In this state of spiritual deficiency, we effectually live according to our flesh alone.
But the Bible teaches that we are more than just flesh alone, and that the Spirit of God resides over, through and within all. When we come to understand (aka repent) and believe on God’s presence within, the Christ Spirit resurrects within us and we begin to walk in our newfound salvation. This is why Paul teaches that we have been co-crucified with Christ and it is no longer we who live but Christ lives within us. We metaphorically crucify our flesh (our initial state) so that the Spirit takes preeminence.
This walk in salvation is a daily process, based on our convictions and our prayer with God. During this walk, we may stumble, but the Spirit remains faithful.
While Scripture teaches that the entire world is redeemed, there are only two spiritual states of humanity: those ‘without form’ and those ‘transformed’ in this life. These states are based on grace through faith, not works or actions.
When we start building rules for the flesh, we return to the Law that the Christ came to fulfill by grace.
I can break this down with Scriptural passages if you wish to see them.

@realmikolson 252 followers. Though I often fail (and often don't remember to check), I have found ignoring anyone with less than 500 followers brings a measure of peace to the platform. Bots and rabble rousers rarely attract a serious following.

This is wonderfully said by @JohnPiper.
#Sin is being out of alignment with God. It is to be unappreciative of His character & work and insubordinate toward His ordained purpose.

@WithinAllOfUs @EFHutton123 @bitcoin_only @shane_pruitt78 @grok All will be forgiven except blaspheming the HS.
However, righteousness exists. Living in accordance with God's will shows unity with him, even without proper knowledge/revelation.
There's liberty, but there's also right & wrong in God's eyes
Our action shows our unity/disunity

English

Sex is an outwardly act of the flesh, same as any other outwardly act.
When we understand that the literal interpretation of ‘sin’ means to be ‘without portion’ or ‘without form’, we realize that sin isn’t our outwardly actions, but is the state of a human that is spiritually deficient. In this state of spiritual deficiency, we live according to our flesh alone.
