You assumed your conclusion in your premise. You said the 14th Amendment is "clear," then described your preferred interpretation as proof it is clear. That is not an argument. That is a word salad with extra dressing. Let me offer some clarity, since the wheel appears to be spinning but the hamster fell off. You came to the United States as a LEGAL immigrant. You established permanent domicile. You went through the proper process. Congratulations — your experience is literally the factual scenario covered by Wong Kim Ark (1898). The executive order does not touch you or people like you. Legal permanent residents' children are SPECIFICALLY protected under EO 14160. So you are arguing passionately against a policy that would not have affected you at all. That is a special kind of confused. Now. The 14th Amendment is "clear," you say? Then answer this question. Why do the children of foreign diplomats NOT receive citizenship — even though they are physically born on American soil? Ambassadors' kids breathe American air. They are born in American hospitals. They are subject to American traffic laws. Why no citizenship? If you cannot answer that without acknowledging that jurisdiction means something MORE than geography, you have already conceded the argument. The AUTHOR of the citizenship clause, Senator Jacob Howard, said on the floor of the Senate in 1866 — on the record, in the Congressional Globe — that it "will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are FOREIGNERS or ALIENS." Senator Trumbull, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said "subject to the jurisdiction" means "not owing allegiance to anybody else." Every senator who voted for it agreed. ZERO dissent. You want to tell me Trump is rewriting the Constitution? Trump is READING the Constitution. The people who rewrote it are the ones who decided to silently delete the phrase "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" and pretend it was never there. Also — one last thing, Congressman. As a Democrat elected to actually represent your constituents in Michigan, what specific legislation have you passed to help them? Not hashtags. Not press releases. Actual bills. Because from where I sit, almost every post on your feed is about what you are against. The people who sent you to Washington deserve to know what you are FOR — besides opposing a constitutional reading that your own immigration story does not even contradict. Trump is a badass dealer. He started war with Iran. Iran blocked Strait of Hormuz and stopped the sale of oil to Europe. UK is affected. And UK didn't join Trump when Trump asked for their help. Now, UK is suffering shortfall in oil supply. And Trump is telling them to buy from him or go and open the Strait of Hormuz by themselves. Either way, Trump wins.
