According to Arrow, Hormuz disruption has minimal impact on bauxite (<2% discharges in the Persian Gulf), but alumina is more exposed (~20% discharge there). Middle Eastern smelters hold just 3–4 weeks of inventory, so a prolonged blockade could force output cuts. If ~600k tonnes/month of alumina bound for the Gulf were redirected to China, it equals ~1.8m tonnes of bauxite (~10% of China’s imports). Bigger risk: Guinea may cut bauxite output from ~200m to 150m tonnes this year to support prices, potentially within weeks. #drybulk #markets
