Markus Jooste’s Hermanus Mansion just sold for the full asking price of R105 million💸 6 months ago, I tweeted about his home for sale. Now, a group of investors have purchased the site with plans for a redevelopment. The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) will be getting most of the money from the sale. This was one of Jooste’s assets that they legally took control of in October 2022. When an asset gets frozen by the court, because the owner (Markus Jooste) was suspected of breaking the law, the owner cannot sell or transfer the property. This is a huge property sale for Hermanus and quite the achievement price-wise, considering that this property isn’t on the beach and SARB initially valued the property at closer to R80 million. It will be interesting to see what the new owners' development plans are.
