Unfortunately, this morning’s jobs numbers confirm what I have been sounding the alarm on for months, and what many Florida families are already feeling — Florida is falling behind on jobs. We’re losing tens of thousands of jobs every month and our unemployment is behind the national average AGAIN. Something needs to change. There needs to be a relentless focus on growing our economy, recruiting more job creators, and getting Florida BACK TO WORK.

@DebbieforFL @chrislhayes Most people CHOSE not to live near good transit options in Miami. There is always a choice. Traffic will never get better without congestion pricing, especially when we just add lanes that don’t improve traffic in the long term.

@chrislhayes We have incredible spaces, the only living coral reef in the continental US & amazing beaches. Unfortunately Chris overdevelopment has resulted in poor urban planning & increased traffic. We don’t accept it, we hate it! And as you mention we don’t have good public transit options

Something that always strikes me whenever I go to a booming America sunbelt city - in this case Miami, is that you get these two amazing benefits: good weather and more space for less money (compared to, say, SF/NY/DC) BUT the devil takes his due with *brutal* traffic.

@chrislhayes This is spot on. It takes up so much air in the room daily there is not space left to discuss other real world issues. Also, come check out tampa bay. Traffic isn’t as bad and cost of living/visiting much better.

And it feels like largely people just accept the traffic as a kind of a natural feature of the landscape. Something you can complain about but can't really be changed. Or they chalk it up to growth, which is true, but don't view it as separable from growth itself.
