If ten thousand people on the streets for trans rights yesterday does not show politicians what the people really think - then they are not in the business of representing us, just the rich. Dublin loves, fights for and protects its trans and intersex neighbours.

Since our statement last week, a second Sinn Féin TD has welcomed the ruling. Our position remains that without clarity on the Supreme Court ruling and without calls to reverse the ban on puberty blockers, Sinn Féin will be excluded from Trans and Intersex Pride Dublin

We need to be really clear on this our Trans community have faced and continue to face levels of discrimination and deprivation that we in the disability community are all to aware of. Our Trans community stood and sat with us as we fought and won the “Scrap The Green Paper” fight which in turn has benefited so many in our society. Trans rights are human rights. Trans visibility is more than media stories. It must be on our own terms, to build a movement for trans liberation. Visibility without liberation puts us in danger. Solidarity and collective action on the streets will build a better world, not just for trans people, but for all!

but a lack of solidarity against the attacks we're facing. Capitalism is happy for us to be visible if it means we can be objectified or ridiculed. But not when we're loud about the oppression we face or the demands we're fighting for.

This Trans Day of Visibility, we need more than just an acknowledgement of our existence. We need real liberation from a system hellbent on erasing us. The visibility capitalism gives is one of repetitive debates about pronouns, sports, and bathrooms.
