Whether or not Alberta Independence goes anywhere, this debate is great for Canada and the West.

@thecritcomp @jengerson Pretty reasonable ask. For fairness. Not doing so, is secretive, elusive, shady, untrustworthy, sketchy, and quite shitty. What are you skizz-bags hiding? (I’m anonymous, on the good side. You asshats are anonymous and nefarious.) Get fuct.

@jengerson Update: @jengerson won't talk to us because we don't want to give her our full names or information about our day jobs 😂 I even gave her my phone number and where we'll be tonight and she still wants to pretend we're Russian disinfo bots. What a joke

Separatists are allowed to make whatever claims they want and have no obligation to platform anyone who disagrees with them or can debunk them. Federalist organizations, on the other hand, have a moral obligation to take patently fantastic separatist arguments seriously and platform them as equals. This is "both sides" fallacy. If you buy into it, you've already accepted an informational asymmetry.

@jengerson You do what you want, Jen Just stand strong and admit this is literally what the Woke Left did and said Cognitive dissonance is hard, I know

Tonight I’m at The Grand to watch @jkenney and @ikwilson debate Alberta independence. I’ll write up my full thoughts on the debate over the next couple of days, but for now, here’s a reminder of what I said about the issue a year ago:

@Harry__Faulkner Timmy's should offer a fair living wage, not a minimum wage, to young people. That's why they won't work there and i don't blame them. Customer service is a tough job and there's plenty of cleanup work to do. Minimum wage doesn't cut it yet Timmy's will hire TFWs who will.

Tim Hortons announces plan to hire 10,000 local job seekers. After years of telling us that Canadian youth were "too lazy" to work and that only TFWs could pour coffee, Tim's is trying to win back lost support. This is a PR stunt from a company that betrayed Canadians.

What does this word "extremist" mean? Is it just a meaningless word that has become a pejorative? When you hear someone called an "extremist" you should ask "in relation to what?" In an age where the slaughter of the unborn has become "normal", the mutilation of children is "science", state-sponsored theft is "good government," then those who promote truth, beauty and goodness becomes "extremist". Moral goodness has become extreme in relation to the moral depravity of our society. I was mildly surprised to find out that I was called an extremist by another Reformed pastor during lockdowns, for my desire to keep the church open. What is extremist about a position where one recognizes the threats of modern technocracy and sees the need to continue the ministry of the Word and sacrament and the communion of the saints? Again, we are answering the question "in relation to what?" I was an extremist in relation to the direction that many Canadian Christians were moving, but was demonstrably not an extremist in relation to many or most Christian societies in the world or over the course of Christian history. We could keep going down the list. The politician has to negotiate and wade through opinions and fads especially in a democracy. The pastor must anchor Himself to the Word and to the authority of Christ in a time of revolution and foment. At that point it matters a lot less whether people are calling you an extremist as whether or not the Lord will say "well done good and faithful servant" when you enter the gates of heaven. That applies to both the pastor and the politician in their diverse callings. Photo by Priscilla Du Preez 🇨🇦 on Unsplash

The loss of Chris Dacey in the Ottawa area has been a net negative for journalistic coverage in Canada. From street level questions of the leaders of our country to the most candid on the ground coverage of protests in the national capital and surrounding area, Dacey brought a unique and valuable perspective to the national conversation. His videos often went viral around the world and with good reason. While I wish Chris well in his new life, I mark the occasion as a great loss to accountability and journalism in our country. Few people are willing to do what he did and stand up to the abuse that comes with raw and uncensored journalism of the nation's most powerful people and the most violent and unhinged protesters. Canada's frayed social fabric is rarely seen through the unfiltered lens of cameras like Chris Dacey's, especially with the skill he wielded it. Another example is Caryma Sa'd in Toronto who is subject to horrifying abuse for daring to show the reality of civil unrest on the ground. Canada's activist journalist lobbying groups are quick to support those who post from the safety of their living room but are silent on the real physical abuse directed to journalists covering political causes those groups often align with. Caryma and Dacey are some examples of the extraordinarily small group of real journalists and reporters who remain active in Canada. They stand without state support, unlike the vast majority of Canada's media, who are state subsidized, and often without the support or worse even despite the targeting of law enforcement who would rather single them out than deal with the bad actors blatantly and proudly threatening public order and Canada's social cohesion. Cheers to the brave truth tellers like Chris Dacey who endure the abuse to show the reality of Canada's painful decline and civil unrest while speaking truth to power eloquently and with humor. I will always cherish my time working with Chris and am sure we have not yet heard the last from him. But until we meet again my friend, thank you for your years of good work and resilience.
