I prescribe ivermectin more than most doctors. Because I am an infectious diseases specialist so I use it for a range of parasitic infections in patients referred to me. I never use it to treat cancer because a) I'm not an oncologist and b) it doesn't treat cancer

@DrJesseMorse @nickmmark @DrNeilStone Yep loads of in vitro experiments in murine models and cell lines. Long way off proving efficacy in humans. Not even Phase 1 trials done. It’s interesting but miles off suitability for routine care in cancer patients.

@DWirtel @DayKarmajpd @EM_RESUS Dependence when it comes to medication or drugs generally implies a person will physically withdraw when they stop (after taking the medication for a period of time). Sometimes withdrawal can be deadly with alcohol or Benzodiazepines, or just a lot of misery with opiates.

@DunbarDaniel @DayKarmajpd @EM_RESUS Dependence on a pain med won't ruin a life. Depends means you need it like someone needs/depends on blood pressure meds, asthma meds, diabetes meds, or even food, water, and air.

Unpopular medical opinion: most OTC meds are pharmaceutical BS

@DayKarmajpd @EM_RESUS Dr’s are scared to write for opioids in many circumstances because we know about 7% will become dependent/ruin a chunk or all of their lives…just to help temporary pain. Terrible position to be in. So we are choosing milder/safer meds. We care/don’t want to ruin lives.

@EM_RESUS Unpopular opinon- when I'm in pain shouldn't Dr's be prescribing pain medication? Isn't that what it's for? Now this opioid epidemic has them scared to prescribed it to ppl acutely in pain. Pisses me off.
