“Everyone has the fundamental right to choose and live according to their religion,” Kelsey Zorzi, Director of Advocacy for Global Religious Freedom at ADF International. “This decision sends a clear message that individuals should not be bound for life by religious classifications imposed on them as children by their parents or by government policy. No state should have the power to permanently assign a person’s religion.” adfinternational.org/news/christian…

Maryam was raised as a Christian in Iraq. When her mother later remarried and converted to Islam, Maryam was forced by law to designate herself as a Muslim too. Now, a court has ruled in Maryam’s favor, allowing her to have her state-assigned religion changed to reflect her Christian faith. 👇👇👇 t.co/UnLwj7vXe1

The crisis for Christians in Nigeria continues. Action must be taken to hold attackers accountable and protect Christians and their right to worship freely and peacefully. Pray for the persecuted church in Nigeria and around the world.

Nigeria: On May 7, Islamists murdered three pregnant Christian women, along with several other believers, in Ngbra Zongo, Bassa, Plateau State. Today, a CEA team visited them, prayed over them and delivered critically needed relief supplies. Authorities have not assigned any security personnel to the community. Pray for these Christians.

🚨An Iraqi court has ruled that a young Christian woman can be recorded as Christian, not Muslim, in the state's official database. She was reassigned to Islam as a child by operation of law when her mother remarried.

🚨NEW: An Iraqi court has ruled in favor of a Christian woman, allowing her to have her official religious status corrected in the government’s database after she was automatically registered as Muslim under Iraqi law. This is a precedent-setting WIN for religious freedom. 👇

A Christian scholar and popular YouTuber, Augustinos Samaan, was imprisoned and sentenced to 5 years of hard labor for "blasphemy" in Egypt. Augustinos is now appealing his conviction, and we are legally supporting him. No one should be imprisoned because of their faith.

🚨 A shocking case. Two young girls in Nepal reportedly were coerced into egg retrieval procedures in which their ova were harvested for use in fertility treatments. Petitioners, with legal support from ADF International, have called on the Nepal's Supreme Court to take immediate steps to protect vulnerable minors. 👇 adfinternational.org/news/nepalese-…

READ from @FoxNews: "Johnston isn't the only Christian who has been prosecuted under similar buffer zone laws. Scottish grandmother Rose Docherty was arrested twice for holding a sign offering conversation in a protected zone before charges were dropped." Europe's censorship crisis continues to crush free speech.

Maryam’s case highlights a pervasive problem in many parts of the Middle East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia: the practice of state-assigned religion, in which governments record a citizen’s religion in official databases or on identification documents and make it difficult or impossible to change. In many countries, these designations are imposed without an individual’s consent—whether through clerical errors, inheritance from a parent’s conversion, or coercive government policies—and can carry severe consequences for religious freedom in daily life.

"The Convention protects pluralism, not homogeneity. Neutrality requires restraint, not erasure." READ: @Adina_Portaru's article in @OxHRH about an ECtHR case that could determine whether religious symbols remain in public buildings. A false interpretation of religious freedom must not be used to force down religious symbols across Europe.

The petition, currently pending before Nepal’s highest court, states that the minors, both aged 17, were isolated from parental oversight, subjected to physical manipulation of their reproductive systems, deprived of food, rendered unconscious, and exposed to significant short and long-term health risks without a meaningful understanding of what was being done to their bodies or why.
