@Cllrjfahy I'm sure those who will be out of a job will share your pleasure. Good old Labour, working for the people.
English

@mtpennycook I obviously didn't mean outright that I would actually vote for Labour when the canvassers knocked on my door last week. It's a complex undertaking deciding who to vote for that would have a detrimental impact on the electorate if, say, that party failed to deliver its promises.
English

On Tuesday, I gave evidence to the @CommonsHCLG as part of their pre-legislative scrutiny of our draft Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Bill 🧵
English

@MattLismore @mtpennycook And they've failed to introduce even that immediately. It's still 2 years away. Promise made. Promise broken.
English

I don’t want to be antagonistic within the party, but @mtpennycook your post today aims to state that you’ve abolished leasehold, while also stating that you aren’t abolishing leasehold.
Ground rent (a feudal payment) will continue at a capped level (£250) for 40 years.
That means that the manifesto pledge to “end the feudal leasehold system” has undeniably been broken.
That is a simple, irrefutable fact.
It doesn’t mean your dept has not outlined legislation that is a clear leap forward, better than anything for over 100 years, but it does mean the manifesto pledge was broken.
English

As you tweet endlessly, Labour is getting on with ending the feudal leasehold system.
✅ Ground rents capped at £250
✅ New leasehold flats banned
✅ Forfeiture scrapped
✅ Easier move to commonhold
The difference between power and protest.

Sadiq Khan just refused to commit to no more new build leasehold buildings in London. Literally moments after banging on about how bad leasehold is and that it's a feudal system. The Labour hypocrisy knows no ends. What do they stand for other than to protect wealth & power?
English

@WoolwichPigeon do you guys come out to Charlton? We've had an incident that needs urgent attention...

English

@MatthewStadlen Can you replace the word 'win' with 'cancel'. That's more realistic.
English

@philatrail Stop saying Flag Shagging. It makes you sound like a moron. There's nothing wrong with appreciating and displaying one's national flag.
English

So I see the DfT has gone into full flag sh@gging mode with its Great British Railways branding. Press release doesn’t mention variations for Scotland or Wales. Unless from London DfT has simply assumed that England is Great Britain?

English

@Clainy6 You know Rachel Thieves has put up the tax on capital letters? You got money to burn fella?
English

@mtpennycook Hooray! Let's build some more leasehold flats on our green spaces.
English

@mtpennycook Why haven't you sorted out the leasehold reform you promised?
English

@jdpoc hey fella, here's another Central Line pic for you to say is AI/doctored/not real. Keep up the sanctimony. Enjoy!

English

@WoolwichPigeon Could you bring back this gem too? Maybe run it instead of the 6 o'clock news?

English

@jdpoc @Geraldi35275645 Kind of indicative of the Central line at the moment. 👇 Yesterday. Most carriages like this at the moment.
English

@Geraldi35275645 The point is, as you say yourself, train, singular.
Is this indicative of TfL tube trains in general?
No.
He picked a singular example for performative outrage.
English

Hey @TfL, any chance you can recall your boss @MayorofLondon from his vanity trip to deal with issues HERE, instead of pretending he's a World leader in Brazil? Dealing with the state of the @CentralLine would be a pleasant change from the usual virtue signalling. (92281 BTW)
English

Couldn't have done the meeting on Zoom @MayorofLondon? How does you going on a jolly to Brazil (FYI, a one-way flight from London to Belém, Brazil typically emits around 2.2 metric tons of CO₂ per passenger) help you 'do what it takes' to protect the planet / people of London?
Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan@MayorofLondon
As the world gathers in Brazil for COP30, the stakes could not be higher. Leaders must join together and do what it takes to protect the people we serve, and the planet we share. My op-ed with Mayor Paes of Rio de Janeiro for @NewStatesman newstatesman.com/spotlight/sust…
