Friendly reminder: fascicles rarely run straight from end-to-end of muscles, so when using EFOV ultrasound you should plot the path using successive still pictures, draw that path on the skin, then follow that path (and adjust tilt, yaw). Here's an old VL image as example output.

Sprinting up the stairs 3 times, 3 days/week for 6 weeks improves VO2peak by 12% or ~1 MET (linked to a ~13% reduction in mortality risk)

81 years old. World record. VO₂max of a young adult A new study shows that an 81-year-old ultrarunner maintained exceptional aerobic capacity and cardiovascular function—challenging the idea that aging inevitably limits performance. Use it or lose it. frontiersin.org/journals/physi…

📉New 47-year longitudinal study shows that physical capacity peaks at ~26–36 years and then declines by 30–48% by age 63. 👉The good news? Individuals who stay active throughout life maintain better strength, endurance & VO₂max than those who don’t. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41243424/

@DannyLum82 @MuscleMechsLab I would like to point out that the sample size has been increased from 6 (12 limbs) to 10 (20 limbs) for the full journal article. So the results are slightly different, but the takeaway is essentially the same.

Reminder theres ❌️ evidence in 📚 of specific adaptations associated w/ overcoming or yielding isos adaptations. all 📚 thus far have been acute & even then, show v little to no diff in neuromuscular response. In fact most evidence is extrapolated from small muscles <10% MVC
Fred Duncan@Fred__Duncan

Not all isometrics are the same. Different types. Different adaptations. What you use and when you use it…matters. We covered yielding, overcoming, and EQIs, but there are other useful variations too - Oscillatory isos, iso-dynamic, etc. Understanding why you’re using

@MuscleMechsLab @Fred__Duncan FYI their is a RCT that was run by @DannyLum82 comparing PIMA and HIMA of the knee extensors, that will be published early next year (we're just completing minor revisions atm). Ill let @DannyLum82 share the results here if he likes, as he is the lead researcher.

@Fred__Duncan Im very familiar with @DustinOranchuk *REVIEW* and kubo' work. You've provided nothing here. I asked you for evidence e.g RCT on distinct adaptations btwn overcoming / yielding isos that necessitate differential prescription of them.
