Speed map for Saturday's G1 Everest. Randwick 1200m Early Speed: Storm Boy looks the likely leader but if he does step slow he is at risk of being crossed by Growing Empire. I Am Me lands leader’s back. Bella Nipotina’s and Lady of Camelot’s gates look bad at first glance but with the lack of speed drawn directly underneath, they should be able to find cover if they don’t end up pressing right forward. Most of the runners with form settling further back have drawn next to a runner with a similar pattern, which should allow them to pair up easily. Strong tempo expected. Prediction: Still a lot to play out with how much rain Randwick receives on Friday. Looking for runners that are proven on that Soft 6-7 range. All 12 runners have won big races on Good surfaces if we end up there. Bella Nipotina is by far the most consistent horse in the field. She is in career best form and won the G1 Doomben 10 000 on a Soft 7. She is versatile enough to press forward from the wide gate and find cover. If the pattern of the day sees them getting to the wider lanes then the outside gate becomes a positive. Growing Empire is the x-factor. He was so brave going down in the shadows of the post in the Manikato when the fellow on speed runners faded. He could easily land 1 out 1 back. He brings better form than past 3yo winner Giga Kick did the year he won it in a much more even field. @footyindustryAU People become aggressive when the facts and data are against their personal beliefs or interests. Not everyone is blessed with the naive nature of PVL. Keep up the great work

A thread with maps and opinions for the 5 Group 1s at Rosehill this Saturday. I want to keep my powder dry with a couple that are firm in the market to see how the track is playing and to ensure the worst of the predicted rain doesn't come. Inkaruna and Jedibeel look great value in the Galaxy.

@DustinSpriggs4 Was placed in a group 1 in France on soft at 2400m behind Sir Delius & Illinois that seems pretty reasonable form for this! He’s going well but to me doesn’t have a turn of foot for 2000 so needs 2400

@AussieBenC It’ll be very interesting to see what it comes up as in the morning. I think the forecast tomorrow is on the improve. You’d have to be banking on them rolling off. I’ll be doing most of betting on the day.

A full field in this year’s Galaxy should ensure a hot tempo. I think there are big question marks over the top two in the market. Briasa is suspect on rain-affected ground if that’s where we end up and gets a tricky map. Grafterburners has had a couple of interruptions leading in and comes into it 10 weeks between runs and only one trial. Early Speed: Mazu will be tough to head from the middle gate. Hedged should be prominent from low draws. Form would suggest Briasa goes back from the wide gate but I expect to see them roll forward. Strong tempo expected. Prediction: Looking down in the weights I’d love to see 2 scratchings come through for Inkaruna to gain a start. There was a lot to like about the return of the Anthony and Sam Freedman filly's return in the Fireball. She jumped fairly from the inside draw and settled behind the leader on the rail. She was then held up behind Hidden Motive, who did show a great kick at the top of the straight but still only managed to come across heels at the 150m. She charged home to only just miss finishing 0.1L 2nd to the highly rated Beadman. Her final 200m was 11.21s, which was still 0.11s quicker than Beadman's despite the inconvenience. All things being equal she would've been a clear winner. I expect her to improve off that run with no official trial heading in. Jedibeel is a massive price at $26s. He has 4 wins from 7 starts on Soft and was a solid 3.5L 4th in the G1 Oakleigh Plate 1st up on the back of 2 great trial wins. He carried an extra 3kg in this race last year and found plenty of trouble up the straight when 5L off Private Harry. If Enriched can reproduce what he did in the Liverpool Cup last start coming back to 1100m he is right in this.

Golden Slippers are far from sound betting propositions at the best of times but this year’s presents as a real headache with the Skyline and Pago Pago the only quality lead up races run on wet tracks. Pair that with a tricky map with an abundance of speed, particularly drawn middle and wide. Early Speed: Hard to see anything but a hot tempo being run in the Slipper. I don’t see much speed drawn low unless Gin Twist gains a start. The majority of the speed comes from the middle and wide barriers. Agrarian Girl and Pembrey will be keen to cross from the outside gates. Warwoven and Paradoxium will need to jump well to find cover in behind. Strong tempo expected. Prediction: In a year that’s produced a very even crop of 2yos, I could make a case for Warwoven at $10. He was a real standout in the summer winning races at Randwick and Eagle Farm by 2.1L and 3.3L. He was scratched with a minor setback prior to the Magic Millions, which I think will work in his favour attempting to peak for a Slipper. He seems to have come back to the field somewhat in the autumn but I still think his 2 runs back have been solid. His 0.4L 4th 1st up in the Skyline on a Soft 7 was better than it reads as he was forced to make his run inside runners on inferior going. He qualified with a 0.9L win in the Pago Pago last week. If the track is a Soft 7 or worse then the Gate may turn from a negative to a positive allowing King to find the better going down the outside. Campione D’Italia looks way over the odds at $20. He had excuses on debut before settling at the rear off a hot tempo and charging over the top of them to win in a photo in the Skyline on a Soft 7. He gets a similar set up in this. Chayan is understandably hard in the market after a fantastic 2.9L win in the Reisling 2 weeks ago. She gets 2kg off the colts and is one that will appreciate the hot tempo. The price is the only knock for a filly that is untested on wet tracks. Closer to Free and Steisand have to be respected bringing the Blue Diamond form.

A tale of two halves of the race for Lizzura. She didn’t muster as much speed as expected but was just far superior to the opp the final 600m. Master training performance from Waller getting the trial into her after she was clearly underdone 1st up.

An early look at an intriguing edition of the G1 Coolmore with plenty of live chances. I've taken opening odds on Lazzura drawn perfectly with J Mac on board. She comes to this 2nd up and off a fantastic tick over trial and a 1st up run that had a lot of merit. Rosehill R8 1500m Early Speed: Savvy Hallie has run well leading her last 2 starts. Nash will have plenty of time to roll across from the wide gate and chute start. Cinsault does have recent form rolling forward. She could make Nash work or take a sit. I see Lazurra getting a great run from Gate 8, which is perfect for her. If she jumps well the red hot J Mac may have her in the 1-1 with one of Manaal, Cilacap or Veorna Rose inside. Moderate tempo expected. Prediction: Lazurra looks well placed to strike in G1 mares company. She has produced superior figures her last three career starts, 2 from the backend of last prep in the G1 Toorak and G1 Empire Rose. Those that dived into the $2 in the G2 Millie Fox 1st up may be hard to convince but I was really impressed by her 0.1L 2nd to Cinsault. She showed tactical versatility settling a lot closer in 3rd, albeit it on a moderate tempo, and looked the winner when she cruised up to Cinsault at the 300m. The Freedman mare benefited from the 4 runs under her belt this prep and fought back for a narrow victory. There was a 2.5L gap back to 3rd with 4th place Pinot a big winner last week. After an eye-catching tick over trial between runs, which you don’t often see from Waller, I expect Lazzura to come on a lot from that run and look just as impressive over the final 200m as she did at the top of the straight. You could make a strong case for any of; Savvy Hallie, Ole Dancer, Verona Rose, Manaal or Arctic Glamour. Verona Rose was outstanding fighting all the way to the line with star filly Tempted in the Surround . Ole Dancer has been well-prepared to peak for this race and was 3rd behind Tempted.

@DustinSpriggs4 He was on the board that fought to reinstate the Bunnies into the NRL. Dislike his politics all you want, but you can't question his right to be there at that moment with every other fan that rushed onto the field.
