My response to Vice President JD Vance’s visit to Rocky Mount:

We are investing in public safety. Supporting law enforcement is about taking action, not just words. By providing crucial resources, we’re building a brighter, safer future for eastern NC.

It’s totally fair for those who don’t follow us as closely to ask, “What has he done for eastern NC?” As we make rounds across eastern NC, I proudly championed each of these 15 projects and voted for key government funding bills that provided funding for them, totaling $54 million. I specifically voted for: 🇺🇸 Senate Amendment to H.R. 7148 – Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026 🇺🇸 H.R. 6938 – Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act, 2026 🇺🇸 H.R. 5371 – Continuing Appropriations, Agriculture, Legislative Branch, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Extensions Act, 2026 Together, we are investing in our communities and undeniably building a brighter future for eastern NC! It's wrong for Democrats or Republicans to draw maps mid-decade for the sole purpose of putting up points on the scoreboard. We must put our constituents first, stop the political gamesmanship, and bring this redistricting madness to an end.

I visited the Dinno family, three generations of pharmacists, at Keyes Drug in Newton to discuss the future of independent pharmacies. One way that policy-makers can support these small-business owners & medical providers is to rein in the abuses of the pharmacy benefit managers, the middlemen of drug-pricing recently sued by the Federal Trade Commission for price-gouging practices.

I visited Che! Empanada in Newton to celebrate #HispanicHeritageMonth. Albie Alvarez-Cote founded Che! during the pandemic, based on a family recipe for Argentinian empanadas. Albie’s hospitality & enterprise were a great (and delicious) way to celebrate Hispanic heritage.
