It's been a very long journey full of ups and downs but Alhamdulillahi, here we are😍

A year ago today, I left everything familiar with just 2 boxes and a heart full of uncertainties. I knew little or no one. The fear was real. The loneliness was loud. But today, I see growth. Through it all… it can only be Allah. Alhamdulillah Rabil Aalameen.🤲🏻🤲🏻🤲🏻

Good day everyone, my name is MaryRose. I'm a medical student at the LAUTECH TEACHING HOSPITAL and this is a fundraiser post. A couple of weeks ago, precisely on the 16th of April, 2026, there was a fire outbreak in Ogbomoso and the building affected was a students' lodge. Two of my classmates and friends lived in this hostel. We were in school, having a laboratory practical session when they were informed that their hostel was on fire. In a couple of hours, the entire first floor of the building was razed and only the ground floor was unscathed. Unfortunately, one of my two classmates was affected by the fire. She lost everything she had save for the dress she was wearing and her school bag. Everything was lost. Things she had gathered over the years. Her clothes. Her textbooks. Her stethoscope. Her documents. Everything was lost. We know that we cannot possibly imagine or fathom all that she might be going through right now but we have decided to step up, as her friends, and help in the little way that we can. And that is the reason for this fundraiser. Over the next couple of days or weeks, we are hoping to raise five hundred thousand naira to help one of our own get back on her feet. We will appreciate any form of help during this period, in cash or in kind(clothes, shoes medical school textbooks, medical instruments etc). Hijab-wearing doesn't make one a criminal, and unless I am mistaken JAMB hasn't mandated a no hijab policy for anyone who wants to take JAMB, so denying someone entry into a JAMB CBT centre because they are wearing a hijab reeks of discrimination. With or without the hijab, malpractices will still happen if the centre isn't well supervised, so that is no justifiable excuse. And if for any reason candidates aren't allowed to wear hijab or any headcovering, it should be stated before registration to avoid putting them in an uncomfortable situation. Search all candidates and accord everyone the same respect.
