The time when Tom Cruise was too nervous to do a stunt: In this scene in Francis Ford Coppola's "The Outsiders" (1983), Tom Cruise does a standing back tuck from the top of a truck. Patrick Swayze coached him beforehand on how to do it. Right before filming the scene, Cruise nervously approached writer S.E. Hinton and said he was afraid he would be unable to do it because he felt nauseous from overeating at lunch. Hinton asked him if he thought he would feel better if he threw up, and Cruise said he thought so. Hinton took him to the food truck and made him drink raw eggs until he threw up, resulting in Cruise feeling much better and performing the stunt without a problem. (Source: IMDb) P.S: On this day, 43 years ago, "The Outsiders" (1983) premiered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA.

My son is really into I Spy books lately and the nostalgia is so sweet for me. I hope when he recalls these times his memories bIur reality with the dreaminess and wonder of these pictures. I hope it’s part of his childhood magic.

Whenever times are rough, I always think back to the ending of A Boy Named Charlie Brown and what Linus says to Charlie Brown after he loses the spelling bee. It's a good message for people that we all need at times like this.

Rome just opened a subway line next to one of the world’s most historically significant sites at $660 million per mile. So yes, this country should be building metro lines all over at normal costs.

not defending ChatGPT about which I know virtually nothing but what makes you think that many/most human beings are not programmed to think/believe/utter formulaic platitudes if not outright misinformation? Dickens' caricatures of individuals fixed in robotic personalities are not really far-fetched. most brains are hives of others' voices & only with effort does one "think for himself." please note that US society is built upon contradictions; it is considered maturity to politely not notice these. at least ChatGPT is "only" a device. just pull the plug.
