Another Air Force pilot training story. One morning, I was scheduled to fly a T-38 solo from my base in Columbus, MS. I took off at around 5:30 AM on a beautiful sunny morning. Just me and a jet. Wisps of clouds were hugging the Mississippi hills and fields as the sun rose. It was so peaceful. As I climbed out, the only aircraft in the air at the moment, I plugged in my Walkman, played Christopher Cross “Sailing” and ripped some killer aileron rolls. The power and freedom is indescribable.
