God this has gotten out of hand. TeamLH are now mocking CL news or whatever their name is using a report from FUJI TV F1 GP NEWS (most reputable source ever 😭), which still doesn’t address WHY Hamilton had battery issues… This is not a gotcha moment.

@AeroTechVH These cars are already really fast, 2023 level pace. So being 1.4s slower is perfectly fine.

@shanethecnfsr Not supposed to unhappy? Sure, but he's meant to have a backbone. For all the "Hamilton's never suffered with a terrible car" talk Slurstappen fans have spewed for a decade, it would be poetic if Max runs away after driving his first non-Newey, non-T3 car. TR doesnt count

@KorbiChedy @noobbricks @shanethecnfsr Wait till you clock how teams have been working out where to deplpy energy since '14! Drivers have NEVER been in contol of energy deployment - they dont consciously control deployment. They're at the beginning of the PU reg cycle, they'll sort these gremilins out.

@KorbiChedy @noobbricks @shanethecnfsr Not really, it's Ferrari deployment software not working well (esp in Quali). LEC and Ocon got 97 'ed ruining their quali laps and (apparently) Lewis had issues with the SOC of his battery. If these issues were universal, I'd agree with you but they are not

Some analysis on LH driving style now we’ve had a few races 👇 My biggest takeaway is that certain tracks will have completely different requirements due to the changed speed/corner profile from the new engines. On energy-starved tracks where there is very little time spent in slow corners and the brakes, we’ll see large speed drops before certain corners. Spoon is a great example - in the past we are used to approaching at the corner at 300kph or higher and dropping to 170kph. Due to super-clipping the approach speed is roughly 250kph so the necessity to stop the car is a lot less, meaning it’s now more favourable to release the brakes early and keep up momentum. Very similar to the Ground Effect driving style that was problematic for Lewis. On the other hand, when we are not starved of energy, the approach speeds are typically higher coupled with a reduction in downforce. This means that corners that may have been high speed in the previous reg set now require a larger stop, which favours drivers like Hamilton. Going forward, maybe with the exception of Spain I don’t feel like we will be energy-starved like at Suzuka for a while. For me the most interesting venues this season for Lewis in comparison to Charles will be Monaco, Hungary, Belgium where he was off the pace due to the high-momentum nature of the tracks but this year that might change.
Udi@FormulaPace

I’d oppose this - Lewis’ braking technique typically should favour the recharge rules since he doesn’t rely on early release (something that hindered him with the developed GE cars) I’d say it was a big reason for why his pace in Australia and China was exceptional particularly in the race. Japan has the 2nd lowest % of time on the brakes after Jeddah so with the speed profile of these cars I’d say it’s probably the track that nerfs him the most. Charles on the other hand is a master of high momentum corners that Suzuka is now full of, largely due to the clipping reducing the approach speed of corners like Turn 1, Spoon and the final chicane.

@F1Rahman_76 @denizlonso There is 100x more to a driver’s performance than w2w performance. Maybe we focus on it bcs it sticks out in memory

@denizlonso I wouldn’t include Russell yet. He was mid in Aus (schooled in W2W by Leclerc for the 74th time and had poor pace compared to Antonelli) , lacklustre in China and shit in Japan. I’d put Piastri there instead. Not done much but what he has done has been great

Hamilton’s had a strong 1st stint, seemed like he brought the tyre in well and built a nice offset. The 2nd stint however was not good - perhaps his restart was overly aggressive after passing Russell and trying to get Piastri alongside various deployment issues. With a tyre that has zero deg, taking too much from the tyre early on has a larger negative impact. Compared to if the SC never came out he’d have been able to run his own race as he did in Melbourne and focus on the tyre, something that probably helped Norris and Leclerc being able to do some laps before the SC and not take too much from the tyre early
