Chloe Flanagan (2029 Coggon, IA) comes in right below the letters with his high fastball for the called strike three. This 2029 has a change up that literally stops time. HIGHLY EFFECTIVE. @clutchhit20 @chloeflanagan33 @AshleyMears_PG @PGSoftballIowa #perfectgameMarchMadness

Recruiting email examples.
I was able to get two email examples to coaches from a D1 assistant softball coach a D1 associate head baseball coach. Just remember to keep it short and simple while providing all important information.
Side note: I promise to have a recruiting do’s and don’ts YouTube video with current softball coaches in the near future! We are just trying to find times to sync up! I know the recruiting process can be an overwhelming process so I hope the video I put together can help guide you!

6 steps in the recruiting process
1️⃣ Know Your Why
Before you ever email a coach, get clear on why you want to play in college.
What kind of student, athlete, and teammate do you want to be?
Your “why” will keep you focused when the process feels tough.
⸻
2️⃣ Build A Player Profile
Coaches need easy access to your info.
Create a complete online profile that includes:
•Academic info (GPA, test scores if available)
•Positions, grad year, and measurables
•Highlight video and key stats
•Contact info for you and your coach
⸻
3️⃣ Do Your Research
There are over 1,700 college softball programs — find the ones that fit you.
Look at:
•Level (D1, D2, D3, NAIA, JUCO)
•Location, major, and campus vibe
•Roster needs and graduation years
•School size and academic standards
⸻
4️⃣ Communicate with Coaches
Start emailing and messaging coaches early.
Include:
•Personalized intro (use their name and school)
•Why you’re interested
•Upcoming schedule + profile link
Follow up consistently and professionally.
⸻
5️⃣ Get Seen
Visibility is key.
•Attend college camps and showcases strategically
•Share game film and highlight videos
•Tag coaches when appropriate on social media
Exposure + effort = opportunity.
⸻
6️⃣ Stay motivated
Your skills, grades, and attitude are always part of the evaluation.
Keep improving on and off the field — strength, speed, leadership, and communication matter.
Stay coachable. Stay consistent. Stay ready when the call comes

Have Someone Proofread Your Emails to College Coaches
Your emails to college coaches are often your first impression — so make them count.
Before you hit “send,” always have someone you trust (a parent, coach, or advisor) proofread your message.
Why?
✅ They’ll catch typos and grammar mistakes.
✅ They’ll help you sound confident, respectful, and professional.
✅ They’ll make sure you included key info like your grad year, position, and schedule.
⸻
⚠️ Common Mistakes Athletes Make in Recruiting Emails:
🚫 Forgetting to include your name, grad year, or position
🚫 Misspelling the coach’s name or school
🚫 Copying and pasting the same message without personalizing it
🚫 Using your school or family email that’s full of spam
🚫 Writing too casually (“hey,” “lol,” “what’s up”)
🚫 Sending long paragraphs with no clear point
🚫 Forgetting to attach your video link or profile
⸻
💡 Pro Tip: Read your email out loud before sending. If it doesn’t sound confident or clear, revise it!
Professional communication shows maturity — and coaches notice.

Key elements in a highlight reel that will grab a college coach’s attention 🎥🤳📝
⸻
🎯 Lead with Your Best Plays
•Coaches only watch the first 30–60 seconds before deciding if they’ll keep watching.
•Put your strongest clips first—big hits, defensive range, strong throws, or standout pitching sequences.
⸻
📌 Keep It Short & Focused
•2-3 minutes max.
•Coaches don’t need full game footage here; they want quick, clear looks at your skills.
⸻
⚾ Show All 5 Tools (if applicable)
•Hitting: line drives, power, bunting/slapping if you’re a slapper.
•Fielding: range, quick hands, clean transfers, strong accurate throws.
•Throwing arm: from your position, long throws, and on-the-run plays.
•Speed: home-to-first, stealing bases, running the bases.
•Power: if applicable, extra-base hits and hard contact.
⸻
🎥 Use Multiple Angles
•For pitchers: behind the plate and side view (showing mechanics and movement).
•For hitters: behind the backstop and open side angle.
•For fielders: wide enough to see footwork, then close enough to see hands and throw.
⸻
📝 Include an Intro Title Screen
•Name, graduation year, GPA, primary position(s), height/weight, and contact info.
•Optional: travel/HS team and recruiting profile link.
⸻
🔊 Keep It Clean
•No background music or distracting effects—simple titles and smooth transitions are best.
•Quality > flashy editing.
⸻
🏅 End with a Strong Impression
•Finish with a few more standout plays so coaches walk away remembering your talent.

📚 Your GPA Matters More Than You Think in Recruiting
Take a look at this breakdown 👇 — the higher your GPA, the more schools you qualify for academically.
Here’s what the numbers mean:
•4.0 GPA = 94% of schools can recruit you
•3.5 GPA = 72% of schools can recruit you
•3.0 GPA = 51% of schools can recruit you
•2.5 GPA = 21% of schools can recruit you
•2.0 GPA = Only 8% of schools can recruit you
✅More money for college comes from your GPA than your ERA (or stats).
✅Academic scholarships offer 5x more money than athletic scholarships.
✅At the end of the day, 1 of 3 people is paying for college:
— The player (loans),
— The parent (out of pocket),
— Or the college (scholarships).
👉 Takeaway:
Your grades don’t just get you into school—they open the door to more programs, more scholarship opportunities, and more choices. The classroom can give you just as much of an advantage as the field.

Sunday Motivation 🌅
It’s easy to feel lost in the noise of recruiting — who’s committing, who’s getting offers, who’s posting their visits. But remember this: your path is YOUR path.
The college recruiting process isn’t about being the first. It’s about finding the right fit — the school, the team, and the people who will bring out your best on and off the field.
This week, focus on what you can control:
💪 Your effort
📧 Your communication with coaches
📹 Your highlight video updates
🎓 Your grades and habits
🧠 Your mindset
Every email you send, every workout you complete, every rep you take — it all adds up. The progress may feel slow, but it’s building something incredible: your future.
Stay patient. Stay hungry. Stay ready.
Your time is coming. 💥
