Ministry of Education Ontario: Remove Standardized Testing in Schools and use Technology to Accurately Assess Learning - Sign the Petition! chng.it/LSyLycSC via @CdnChange
We can create alternative ways to accurately measure long term growth and education! Using technology through @khanacademy@udemy@skillshare among others, testing can be done without anxiety and short-term evaluations @Sflecce@ONeducation
Schools don't need standardized testing! They aren't accurate measurements of students' learning and growth, and they lower students' self-esteem, self-efficacy and motivation for learning #RemoveStandardizedTests@PeelSchools@ONeducation@Sflecce
Hi @anya1anya, I just read your article about what schools can use instead of standardized tests and loved the outlook you provided! Since we're seeing some of this change happening due to #covid, what are your views on it? #standardizedtests#act#sat
Hi @valeriestrauss, I recently read your Wash. Post article on standardized tests and loved your views on it. What do you think will be the biggest pros for future students if this change stays permanant? #standardizedtests#act#SAT
@bayerr28 Hey Andrew! Yes, through the lessons it has been eye-opening to see the way technology has changed our way of life - how we interact with one another, our sense of self, and how we learn!
Throughout the first 3 weeks in #EM203Robin I learned how learning has changed as time has gone on. We learn in this digital age very differently than years ago when our parents were getting educated.
@EM203RMalcolm Hey Ross! Couldn't agree more. These are the stepping stones to the future where social media will definitely be emphasized in so many different ways!
It feels as if taking #EM203Robin couldn’t have come at a better time! Learning in the digital age and using twitter as a platform is as important now as it’s ever been.
@ColinEm203 Hey Colin! This is a great point that you made. Although multi-tasking may seem like the "norm" and what is expected from students, it is something that definitely decreases productivity through decreased performance
This week's lesson reaffirmed a bad habit that I experience as a "digital native": multi-tasking. Although we tend to perform multiple tasks at once with multiple devices and priorities, performance deteriorates in at least one task - especially in an academic setting #EM203Robin
@YSabghi Hey Yazdan! Me too! I'm excited for whats to come in the class moving forward, and excited to apply the theories we learn to social media on a day-to-day basis!
In the first 3 weeks of #EM203Robin, I have expanded my knowledge of learning in the digital age. Throughout the way, I have gained information on various types of learning theories and how they relate to learning and teaching, In particular, the importance of constructivism.
@EM203LMcNair Yes Leah! Completely agree, its been really cool to apply the knowledge we are learning to a system/environment we interact with daily (Social Media)
It has been really interesting going through the different learning theories, and how they relate to social media - which is a big part of our life these days and the primary way future generations will interact with one another #EM203Robin
