Doom Scrolling is a gateway to a plethora of mental health issues and is incredibly easy to get caught up in with our constant use of social platforms and not a lot of good education around it and the method to deal with it #EM203Robin #EM203Problem

@Mystical_x0 Great Post! Taking this approach to solving this problem really feels like it would give you a lot more control over your own life! What are some strategies you use to help keep yourself grounded throughout the day?

You know that tight feeling of dis-ease you feel in your chest or gut? That sense that there's something "wrong" but you can't put your finger on it.. (Instead defaulting to doomscrolling or to some self-help podcast to try to get rid of the feeling?) That's RESISTANCE Resistance to what? Well.. Life as it is in this moment Inconveniences and all To you as you are Uncomfortable emotions, feelings, tensions, tightness & all This resistance is not a problem in of itself and is a natural habit of mind.. The thing that trips up 99% of people is RESISTANCE to the RESISTANCE "What you resist, persists" This most commonly manifests as overthinking Why? Simply put.. You're addicted to THINKING your FEELINGS But here's one of the problems with this.. It's bloody ineffective So much of thinking is the mind's attempt to rationalize the presence of unfelt feelings in the body And so using thoughts as a signal to tell you: GET BACK IN THE BODY AND START FEELING By allowing whatever feelings are present to be completely FELT (Instead of thought) This acceptance & feel embracing of the feelings leads to a sense of "spaciousness" and presence And you come to a rather wonderful conclusion: Whenever you feel tense, caught up or lost in thought.. It was never anything out there that was the issue.. (No more needing to control the whole world & everyone in it - What a relief!) But rather your internal state And armed with the knowledge that through practicing FEELING + LETTING GO.. You can come to a state of peace, calm, confident grounded presence.. Where you 10x your performance AND enjoyment All of a sudden things that seemed daunting, frustrating or down right tortuous.. Become rather wonderful indeed This is the gift you give yourself that puts you ahead of 95% of people Who remain trapped in loops of negative thinking & lack Thinking the answer lies somewhere out there.. And so keep resisting resistance If you practice this as a matter of UTMOST PRIORITY (Recognizing that everything you do is to get to a certain state - Presence) Your life radically transforms before your very eyes In the place of fear and lack.. There's the incredible beauty of the present moment THE MORE YOU FEEL THE MORE POWERFUL YOU BECOME Let go to tap in!

webmd.com/balance/what-i… very informative webpage on some of the dangers with doom scrolling! This webpage is interesting because it also lists a bunch of super awesome strategies to help reduce that information overload such as mindfulness and putting limiters on apps!

After reviewing @EM203Tingram 's concept map, one problem I was curious about was how doomscrolling affects people of different ages. Is it more harmful to a teenager or an adult? Does it impact younger people's minds differently than adults? If so, how? #EM203problems

@EM203sabrinaliu I agree! I think teaching in the digital age and connectivity go hand in hand to create and together are required for it to be successful!

The first few weeks of this course provided a deeper understanding of teaching in the digital age. Discussing the learning theory of Connectivism last week, it coincided with the rise of digital networks in education. Can't wait for the rest of the course! #EM203Robin

The first 3 classes in EM203 have been very insightful about how we learn as well as how Twitter can be used as an effective news source. Discussion posts have also been interesting being able to see what others think about the course content. #EM203Robin

Enjoying EM203! As I wrap up Lesson 3, I have learned about how the internet revolutionized the way we learn, how we learn in a digital age through multiple learning theories, and how the 3M’s enhance learning & engagement. I even learned how to solve a Sudoku puzzle! #EM203Robin

I’m very happy to have the opportunity of taking EM203 at Wilfred Laurier University! This virtual class has been very fun thus far as we’ve had the chance to create comic strips, explore the world of X (Twitter), and discuss connectivism within my group. #EM203Robin
