@leNBAyb @UofBasketball Clearly 4th is crazy work. He’s second youngest and he’s already a top playmaker in the league, at worst a top 15 defender (while I think he’s top 10) and the continues to take huge strides.

@hoopsjock Shaedon needs to be telling him what to do. That’s his job as the guy guarding the screener. Then he needs to be in a position to switch if Jerami does get screened. Which he does and Shaedon is not in position.

But let's pretend he should be face guarding Wemby for some reason. If Jerami knows it's a curl screen for Wemby, why would he (or anyone) go OVER the screen. If he goes under he could cut Wemby off. Shaedon is actually playing this correctly. He leaves space for Grant...

What I'm about to say is not absolving Shae for standing there. He should have more awareness than this and once the play breaks down, he has to help. However, it pisses me off that people don't realize this is actually Jerami's fault, not Shae's...
Sahal Arwo@TwoForOneTalk

It was this play in particular where I realized the writing might be on the wall for Shaedon Sharpe’s days in Portland. Not because of the outcome, but because of the lapse of focus, something that isn’t new to Shaedon. It has never been a talent issue. Sharpe has all the skill and athleticism to become an All-Star caliber guard. It’s always been the mental side of putting it all together and playing with purpose that hasn’t quite clicked. Twenty points per game is impressive, but when you factor in the subpar shooting splits, turnovers, and tendency to settle for difficult, low-percentage shots, it doesn’t translate to winning as much as you’d hope. That became evident in the postseason, where he could barely stay on the floor. When his shot isn’t falling and he isn’t getting to the line, it’s hard to point to the trait that keeps him on the court in big moments. Scoot has his defense and improving playmaking. Jrue has his defense and playmaking. Ja has elite playmaking. Dame commands defensive attention even when he isn’t making shots. More importantly, all four consistently bring the effort and energy needed to win. Shaedon isn’t a great defender, isn’t a great facilitator, and at times can be overly nonchalant when all you want is for him to play with the energy you know he possesses. We’ve seen careers like Zach LaVine’s, and so far Jalen Green’s, where the scoring is undeniable but the traits needed to consistently play winning basketball just aren’t there. Shaedon’s only 23 and has dealt with injuries, so maybe a change of scenery is exactly what he needs. But with the timeline catching up, he feels like the most movable piece to solve Portland’s backcourt congestion. #RipCity

@jeff_on_sports Agreed. I built a metric the defines versatility that I'll be able to automate once those APIs become available. It incorporates a lot of attributes from the major catch alls and adds to them. The tracking AI is definitely a huge missing piece.

To be clear I think RAPM is super cool and a brilliant creation. But a stat that shows Chet Holmgren and Alex Caruso as the 5th/6th most impactful players has problems. It does emphasize the elite for the two in OKC, and strong proof OKC shouldn’t consider trading either

@CFCNightly @DannyMarang Dame and Drew don’t have time to wait for picks in 28 and 30. Plus Deni is going to need a contract by then. We are in a unique situation where he have a bunch of guys on great value contracts. Now is the time to make a move like this.

@DannyMarang Am I crazy for thinking this deal is incredibly stupid? Wouldn’t we be better off with a shit ton of picks? JB is 29 and we clearly won’t ve spending in the luxury tax any time soon. Boston is a well run franchise, they are selling for a reason

What’s been expressed to me - as it pertains to a Jaylen Brown deal - I don’t expect Deni/Clingan/Camara would be in those talks. Grant/Sharpe/Henderson and any/all draft capital - that’s the pot I believe they’re working with.

A potential trade package from the Blazers for Jaylen Brown: Shaedon Sharpe Jerami Grant 2027 first-round pick (via POR) 2028 first-round pick (via ORL) 2029 first-round pick (most favorable of POR/BOS/MIL) 2030 first-round pick swap (via POR/MIL)

Here’s where I’m at. Jaylen would make us better. But he’d do so by doubling down on our existing strengths. Our weak points on O are, in order, turnovers, 3P shooting, and shot creation. He helps with only 1 of those 3. I’ll embrace it if we get him, but I’m deeply skeptical.
JayTakes@SportsWithJay0

Shams dropping more on a potential Jaylen Brown trade: “Majority of Boston’s conversations have been with Western Conference teams. Portland has had a lot of interest in Jaylen Brown — and they have a ton of draft capital.” Could we actually see a Dame + JB duo in Portland? 🔥

@kelzs1 @RabbiStevenG “Brainwashed kids” like everybody who doesn’t have their daddy to get them a job isn’t getting fucked rn. Why would we not want change and electives who at the very least seem to actually care about ur our interests? All the current dems have done is let Trump get 2 terms lol.

The sad part is that we have a generation of brainwashed kids who think socialism is the best way to go. Someone has to convince them that it’s not. I hope you’ll reach out to people in Congress and the Senate. They have to push these people away. Our country will not be safe if we don’t have two sane parties.

If the Democrats nominate someone from the Mamdani wing and the Republicans nominate Rubio or Haley in 2028, I’d vote for Republican for President for the first time, unimaginable for me as a liberal and delegate to three DNCs. I’d vote for the survival of the Jewish people.

@proxct @emmettmccleary @503Blazerfans @ZachGatsby Then you’re not actually “significantly interested” in the player. It’s nice to want things but if guys like Desmond Bane, Mikal Bridges & LaMelo Ball are going for 4-7 picks then you guys better wake up to reality of what it’s gonna cost 😂

@Councilman303 @sydneyjowray Blazers owner who just spent billions on team shouldn’t be making renovations for an arena that hosts plenty of other events outside of the blazers. Especially when the city got it for a $1 and the land for $7 million.

not a billionaire defender but y'all the city owns the arena and Portland needs the arena to be modernized not only for the Blazers, but also for the Fire and for major tours to want to come here. I've lived in a city that lost a major team. you do not want to go through that.
Front Office Sports@FOS

Trail Blazers owner Tom Dundon wants taxpayers to pay the entire $600 million bill for the team's arena renovations. “It feels like we’re making a pretty big investment by staying here and paying these tax rates," the billionaire said this week in Portland.
